Apropos the Drummond Place pink door planning debacle (which was officially deemed impermissible) from a planning, conservation and heritage point of view the big yellow Humvee on Drummond Place is officially just fine 👍👍👍
2) In a 25-minute walk through Bermuda (a British territory) you can take in the HQs of three of the world’s ten biggest oil drilling contractors, four of the ten biggest oil tanker companies, multi-billion-pound hubs of both Chevron and Shell, and Saudi Aramco’s in-house insurance provider.
I’ve been investigating how the British state is helping the oil industry shield its record war profits from taxes worldwide. Here are some of the things I’ve found 🧵:
1) Britain is a tax haven itself. Unlike other countries, we don’t tax dividends directly when they’re paid.
4) British territories collectively register the world’s ninth biggest shipping fleet - primarily through the Isle of Man. Much of this is tankers. Here’s a large tanker registered in Mann for you.
3) Shell declares about 11% of its global revenue in the Bahamas, despite only employing 45 people there. While the Bahamas are independent, their top court of appeal is still the privy council, meaning profits there are ultimately protected by a British court. This is their Bahamas HQ:

But why has China become a global leader in renewable energy production? Because the fossil fuel industry has used its enormous influence (and funding) to attack any moves towards a transition to renewable energy in the West, using both the libertarian & far right political movements & the media.
Will @greenparty.org.uk become the first English parliamentary party?
With membership surging and polls pointing to success in the coming Senedd elections, Wales Greens are planning an amicable declaration of independence, which would leave @zackpolanski.bsky.social leading the first major specifically English party:
