“Were I, Pierre Poilievre, PM of this great nation instead of Mark Carney, I would routinely be invited to the WH and Maralago in exchange for pledging my loyalty to Trump, selling out Canadian taxpayers and undermining Canadian democratic institutions and sovereignty.“ #MapleMaga

#media
Tim Cook donated $1M to Trump’s inauguration.
He fawned over Trump and gifted him a 24-karat gold plaque (as Apple lobbied for tariff exemptions).
Apple donated to Trump’s White House ballroom.
And it removed ICE tracking apps from its stores following a demand from the DOJ.
Remember this.
Oh, that was “engagement” was it?!
Congratulations on the book. Great subject. Not entirely certain what the role of Paris in Irish lit has to do with France’s strategic military role in the Middle East but I’m willing to listen.
Because this is the very moment where a competent ambassador can make the difference.
Also, if you’re lumping France, a military power with nuclear capacity, into the same company as Vatican City (Calista Gingrich), there’s no real point in pursuing this exchange.
Because a competent ambassador cultivates key relationships with domestic political players who have a tremendous amount of sway over military policy and budgets. Even if you have the support of the Elysee, they will need to get votes on appropriation and policy through the legislature.
France is a historic ally and senior member of both the EU and NATO with key strategic military bases across the Middle East & North Africa. France matters in the very part of the world which Trump is threatening to light on fire. If you don’t really “fuckin care” about France, you should.
I certainly prefer him to the guy who voted to confirm Charles Kushner as US Ambassador to France. But he’s one and the same, isn’t he?
Perhaps these people actually believe people of color don’t deserve the same rights & dignity as white people. Perhaps they gravitate towards fascism because it appeals to them. Calling them what they are is not the cause. It does constitute a convenient excuse for their toxic views though.
These videos are pretty slick. Production values suggest a professional hand. Wonder whose?
Spain also has every right to be proud of its record on tackling domestic violence and violence towards women generally. Their aggressive, multi-pronged approach (education, legislation, victim support) is making a real difference and inspiring other European countries to do the same.
Note that the Carney government is *not* disentangling us from this company. They're working with Cohere, who works with Palantir.
@lighthousereports.com obtained a secret data trove.
It revealed a vast global surveillance empire whose tech has been used to target politicians, journalists, tech execs, and Jared Leto.
The story only gets wilder from there.
So, a data breach IOW?
Along with France’s RN.
Orban also facilitated a substantial loan from a Hungarian bank that enabled the RN to expand. She not only lost her political model, she’s lost her business model.
Why stop there? She should sit the bar exam.
I would not put it past him to demand the money back once the cameras are off.
BTW, I’m not at all suggesting that Carney is disingenuous in any way. I really believe that what you see is what you get with him. But, he’s not ideology-driven. He’s a pragmatist. I think that his pragmatism steeped in moderate, middle of the road policy, is precisely his strength.
Make sure you read the post below the photo.
Grim
Trudeau (by contrast) was arguably true to his ideology (his energy policy in particular) and that ultimately cost him his job. He was effectively cast off for being “woke”, “ultra-liberal”, “elitist”. Carney, the middle-of-the-road compromise candidate and he’s now cruising to a secure majority.
Perhaps. But then how do explain Canada’s Mark Carney? He’s the quintessential compromise candidate parachuted into the Liberal leadership race precisely because he was a “safe, steady pair of hands” (in contrast to Trudeau considered too “woke”).
Your vote matters.
Freaking Awesome!
I wonder what the mood is like amongst the RN. Le Pen campaigned hard for Orban.
