I look back and laugh at all the family that told me I'd become conservative once I started to work and pay taxes. Maybe it's a generational thing but I can't imagine how anyone can grow up in the 21st century and think "yeah, this unchecked capitalism stuff is going great"

Corollary: I hate TV news chasing down families of the accused after court, asking them for an interview, then airing them saying no and trying to get away.

It's understood that would be beyond the pale to do for a victim's family, but the family of the accused are just as innocent.

I also hate that occupation is always the top thing someone is listed as. Like it makes sense now for me because I feel like "journalist" is part of my identity, but if I'd been killed in a robbery when I worked at a gas station and you called me "gas station worker" in my obit I'd haunt you forever

I’ve written a ton of “x person died” stories and it’s a gut punch every single time that someone who spent decades on this earth making friends, having hobbies, experiencing love and heartbreak — gets boiled down to name, age, cause of death and maybe one notable factoid of they’re lucky.

Mild spoilers but there’s a great sequence where there’s two enemy ships set out as bait and a stationary third ship that’s cloaked, but they realize the ships are slightly rotating and they can triangulate based on that gravitational shift and a comms system technobabble where the third ship is

I mean this in the best way possible: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Star Wars thing talk about physics this much. Illustrates that there’s so many ways a tractor bream can be the deadliest thing on a ship. Makes me think of s3 Picard and this great bit in Mass Effect

Also fwiw it’s a direct sequel to stuff at the very end of The Clone Wars, so you can use that as a tease. If she can handle the late Clone Wars stuff (imo the Umbara arc, my favorite CW story, is probably similar levels of intensity) too then she is probably okay with Maul but it could be too dark

The less pithy answer is I think it’s a definitely more on the violent and intense side. Depending on what your eight year old can handle, I’d say the cop stuff might be boring and the Maul stuff might be too intense.
