When visiting the national parks of Hawaiʻi and American Samoa, don't forget to look away from the lava and ocean every now and again...
We bet you have some cool shots of Hawaiian ferns on your phone or camera!

A few shots from today in Yellowstone National Park.
Hoodoos vary from orange to cream colors on the Queen’s Garden Trail. View is from the rim above.
Frigid winds sent us off on the trail from Sunset Point to Sunrise Point where we could overlook the fantastical hoodoos that we would walk through later on the Queen’s Garden Trail. They spark the imagination!

Two of my Space Bar posters appeared in S2, ep7 of ST: Picard! They’re in an LA bar when the crew goes back in time to the early 21st Century. So I, the artist Tyler Nordgren, exist as a person in the Star Trek universe according to canon. #art #startrek #sciart www.tylernordgren.com/space-bar-po...

A12.1: Contribute to research on how people perceive forests. Take this quick, anonymous 10-minute survey:
www.biodiful.org#/forest
This will help us explore how people perceive & experience forest biodiversity! 🌳🌲
Please share to help researchers reach more participants. #ParkChat
Q12 #ParkChat Please share your witty comments and fascinating questions here. Please?

A12 #ParkChat Our “Around the State of Colorado” National Park trip is scheduled for 6/05 through 6/14. We are officially doing a meetup at Dinosaur NP on 6/08 though I’d meet with y’all at any of our locations if you’d like. I’ll publish a list next month. @naturetechfam.bsky.social
The caption from this day (part of my "Subaru Ambassador Day of Caring" trek in 2019: The Crosstrek is loaded up, and three packed bags of trash from site 4, site 5 (no one camped there last night, but the firepit was full of soda cans and melted plastic) and the water pump. I'm sure if I'd looked at any of the other open sites a little harder, there'd be even more bags of trash. All National Park Service sites are "pack in, pack out," which means "take your crap with you." This is why the government shutdown earlier this year was so terrible in open spaces like Yosemite and Yellowstone; people DON'T LISTEN, and without anyone to pick up after them, the sites became trash filled. Seriously, if you're not willing to take your trash with you, don't sully our National treasures with your presence.
Caption from the photo as posted in 2019: The bike, Hoosier Bear, Snappy, a swag bag and the trash bag from the trail (and stuff I picked up from the Fifteen Mile Creek boat ramp, too). 33 miles in one day, from Spring Gap to Fifteen Mile Creek Campground. If I hadn't lost time to rearranging the load, and if I'd been a little better prepared (ie., my butt was more accustomed to being in the bike seat), I wanted to continue to McCoy's Ferry (another 30 miles) or further (Antietam Creek is 70 miles from here).

I wish I had the best words to express my love for this Wild Words chat! Thank you @yellowstonenpgeek.bsky.social for a wonderful wordy chat tonight! 🙌🏼
Here at the end of #ParkChat I’m starting to have a few problems. Please remember to thanks @yellowstonenpgeek.bsky.social for an excellent chat.
Is there a word for the chocolate-graham smell of s'mores? Or the smell of food cooking over the campfire?! 😆 #parkchat 🤤
Q11 #parkchat “Meliorism” is the belief that we can contribute to positive change and improve the world through acts of love, creativity, compassion and kindness. What is one simple thing we can all do to contribute positively to the health, vitality, and longevity of our beloved parklands?
For sure... The smell seems even stronger in dry places, doesn't it? We are sensing it more now that we are in a serious drought. #parkchat

#parkchat A10 I think I feel this in most parks and forests, once the crowd dies away in the back country. This one is in the Bighorns. 🚶🌲 ⛰️
Q10 #parkchat It goes without saying that everyone taking part in tonight’s chat has a deep appreciation for nature. But in what place are you most likely to experience “eutierria” - a good and positive feeling of oneness with the earth and it’s life forces?
