I'm so excited to have @evrat.bsky.social on the latest episode of FLE. Shell Game is one of my favourite podcasts, and I've recently enjoyed discovering Evan's previous work.
Fascinating chat. Thanks to Evan for letting me go long – I had so much to ask!

Unfortunately, today’s episode with David Sparks was mistakenly a duplication of the previous episode with Riley Testut.
This issue has now been fixed and you should see the correct episode appear. If not, please delete the incorrect file and re-download.
Apologies for the error.

This was a delight. David is a super smart, generous guy.

I didn't really relate to that song because I had different things in my Jeep than he had in his Jeep.

Wet Leg were Wet Leg. Great live performers. Knew they’d be a good choice going in. Didn’t disappoint. Probably the one thing the producers knew would land so was smart to get them.

End of the day, I enjoyed it. After a rough couple of days I needed a fun distraction and I honestly don't think it was a whole lot different in quality from what SNL US currently is.

…Time will tell whether the quality holds up but the UK needs a show like this. The reason America has so many great comedy writers is shows like SNL, late night, etc. This format gives young writers the chance to develop, it's fun, and it's a nice change from our endless panel shows…

The last couple of sketches whiffed a bit too but I gotta say, that was a very solid start to SNL UK. There was at least two or 3 very good sketches, Weekend Update was excellent (and far funnier than all your usual 'Mock the Week' style shows), and the opening monologue was fun and well written…

"I gotta cunty earring" gave me a big laugh. Even though the rest of the sketch was pretty shakey.
The Paddington sketch is maybe the first total whiff of the night.

Weekend update was solid. That helium joke was excellent.

Ok, the Internet saboteurs and shy baby sketches were very hit and miss but had funny ideas. Not wildly different than middle of the show SNL sketches.

Ok, so it's taken a dip but it's still not too bad. Certainly for the first episode it's good. A long way to go. Certainly just like the OG SNL, the better stuff is front loaded so will be interested to see how it goes.

Wait, SNL:UK is actually funny? Like very funny? 15 minutes and and they're killing.

Stepping Outside of the Apple Enthusiast Gaze This week saw the release of Apple’s latest tranche of products, which were unveiled last week during a three-day flurry of announcements. The Studio Displays and MacBook Pros look fantastic. The iPad Airs and MacBook Airs are as good as ever. But it was the MacBook Neo that took most of the spotlight. This announcement

In this week's Club @macstories.net Weekly, I wrote about the discourse surrounding Apple's new budget offerings and what I hope critics, fans, and myself will learn from it.

Oh shit, is that a print edition of The Onion? Would love to be able to have them delivered to the UK without having to pay £100.

Instant Note I’m gradually moving more and more of my workflows into Notion after years of hanging around the fringes. The company’s continued push into useful AI with their custom AI chatbot and, as of last week, Custom Agents has made it quite exciting to be around the Notion community. However, Notion can become a little unwieldy

In this week's Club @macstories.net Weekly, I wrote about a super useful app: Instant Note for Notion. It's a quick and easy way to add notes to any of your Notion databases.
