Likely a case of 'mirai != mirai;
Different projects, same name. Because the link below is about something other than R extension and CRAN package.

Because 'good engineering' matters.
Very nice, and extensive. Are you aware of my (decades old!) package `random` that accesses random.org? You could seed your PRNG with a call to it.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on 1 April of Tomáš Kalibera, a valuable member of the R Core Team for close to 10 years, after a short but aggressive illness.
Tomáš is survived by his wife and 1 year old son. A full obituary will be posted in due time.
one immediate dramatic consequence of the Hungarian result:
Magyar has promised to repair relations with the EU and unblock a €90bn EU loan for Ukraine
The ark of history is long, and it occassionally still bends towards voting the bums out.

I coded up an open-source, not-for-profit AI paper reviewer that rivals the performance of
@reviewer3com.bsky.social, Refine.ink, and Stanford Agentic Reviewer (according to Gemini 3.1). Costs <$2!
Live @ coarse.ink. Plug in paper, @openrouter.bsky.social key, and email. #econsky
Move slow and fix things
I once had two creative students do their term project on a spatial data analysis which took i) record HR length, ii) data on stadium locaction and position of mound to iii) project this out on google maps.
My favourite, as I recall, was that in STL the ball would end in the Mississipi.
Nice, and quite succinct. Only comment is that empty lines between paragraphs may make it easier on the eye.
Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:
- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal
Impossible to disagree with a single word that Ben Rhodes (Obama era NSC official) is saying here:
That like it is at ... North Pond?
LOL. What worked 30 years ago ... still works so I still read / write mail in text on Linux.
But I just had another such email rejected by gmail as a false-positive for spam. Email is dead, and that is why we chat here. Sigh.
Fair point.
My email is plain text as well, not indexed though, and usually compressed for older (archived) folders which are still (bz-)grep'able.
Same. Still on a 7a and it's batter performance has been lacking of late. Thinking of a 10a but maybe I wait. My wife switch to an 8a last year.
It is more or less horrendous that these things do not last longer. Color me 'not impressed'.
Old skewl is the best skewl. I write them in .Rmd, which is a step up from when I wrote them in .tex. They all live in ~/src/latex/letters/ and I just `grep`.
$ ls -l src/latex/letters/*recommendation*.{Rmd,tex} | wc -l

A brief summary of what the #Trump regime has achieved in its war with #Iran after 5 weeks:
a)
The Strait of Hormuz is closed. It was open before the war began.
b)
#China and #Russia observe that the #US has not adapted to drone warfare.

And even if you run another OS such as Windows or macOS on your arm64, this #r2u repository should help a lot as the container-based use can then rely on 'cpu-native' instructions, i.e. make sure you tell Docker to use arm64. And you get binaries -> faster
#rstats #containers #themoreyouknow
It is an Ubuntu repo with the ~ 80% non-compiled R packages as 'binary-all', the other 20% compiled for amd64 as always ... and now for about a year also for arm64 making the repository dual-platform: "amd64 arm64"

A never before seen picture of the far side of the moon with the words 'No Kings!' clearly legible. And yes, it's fake and a joke.
First glimpse of what the Artemis II crew is seeing on the backside of the moon.
I have used (and shown) that example many times over the years---a minute is on the 'long' side. But network load, server load, disk speed, 'distance', ... all enter so maybe try again from another (cloud) machine another time? We also do this often in GH actions. 30 sec may be more common bad case.
April 2026 will bring a new #Ubuntu 26.04, a new #Rstats release 4.6.0 and a new #BioConductor 3.23. And ... as the "future is unevenly distributed" we already have #r2u running 26.04.
See 'zero to tidyverse': 10 sec, 107 files, 1 command.

Gratuitous spam email picking up from a skeet I made last month and then extrapolating very badly ("Looking at your work in psychiatry...").
"Looking at your work in psychiatry..." 😻 Gotta love AI. It's only going to get worse from here.
