Definitely. You can heat a leaky building with a heat pump and it's still going to reduce carbon immediately. It's quadruply the case in these very old listed buildings. There is no way to insulate them and retain their appearance and character internally and externally.

Ooh the dongles... Always thought those ones with the pop-out jacks were really clever.

Those marble paving slabs, as well as not draining any water at all, are completely lethal when combined with the grease from chippy lane.

Oh I actually thought that was the Welsh Office. Same energy.

Who was your installer in the end? Did you go through Heat Geek magical app survey stuff? Interested by the process. :)

Of course now they are waiving that requirement but he's stuck half way through the process. I can't even imagine adding listed requirements into that mix. It's possible though, National Trust have some heat pump conversions!

I have a neighbour who embarked on a planning application for a heat pump for his terraced house. There is a difference in ridiculous paperwork necessary simply to install <1m from the boundary compared to the presumed consent in permitted development.

Also - w00t heat pump. 😁

mailcow: dockerized - Blog The mailserver suite with the 'moo' – 🐮 + 🐋 = 💕 | Official Blog Page

Ooh. Shiny. This yak is particular hirsuite. I am using mailcow.email which takes care of all of the tedious interconnection and configuration of the necessary components, and is almost identical to the mailsystem I replaced except dspam was replaced with rspamd and I gained a Web interface.

Which MTA do you use? Could you bodge it into a milter with a bit of Python to exec it?

2. Throughout BSG, they seem to drink a lot of coffee pretty regularly. Why don't they run out? I can get that a military ship might be stocked with some rations etc, but enough for ~40k people for years? Why would they happen to have enough coffee? Or does only Adama get coffee? What gives?

1. Are these three using more than 5kW combined, such that it would exceed the output of my inverter/battery during a power cut. Probably? Is it within the 7.5kW peak output? If not, which machine would I run first? Can I froth milk at the same time as running one of them?

I have a bean to cup espresso machine, and my wife has a Nespresso machine as she likes the variety of flavours. As I start both machines concurrently each morning, and then put some milk on to froth, I often wonder two things...

Octopus could also try to prohibit batteries / peak shaving kind of behaviours on Intelligent / Cosy, but I guess most people (except @techpoodle.bsky.social) have substantially less battery than a car or heat pump adds to their usage so it doesn't distort the cost / is still a saving for them.

Interesting! That seems like a "yes and" then - offsetting the retail fixed overheads for a "big" user, as well as passing on the wholesale cost saving.
