Iran claims US used backdoors in networking equipment : And China is loving it

Trust no-one? Mix and match gear? I guess keeping home IT locked behind a hardware firewall helps but should I now question reliance on Tailscale for remote access and move back to a VPN server? Sovereign EU IT, better the local devil you know I guess

Boomers need to be banned from the internet, not just under 16s. Further proof if proof were needed.

There's the news I came here for. Even my wee old mum wondered why he didn't at least read the executive summary before making an important decision 😂 #labour

Matter and Thread suck in the home automation space. They are so unreliable as to be unpleasant. Back to full zigbee #home #automation

Mayor Pete for US Pres, mainly as that'd give me two degrees of separation from the Pres and three from Kevin Bacon

Today, President Barack Obama and I read to a group of toddlers at Learning Through Play Pre-K Center in the South Bronx.

In between singing wheels on the bus, we discussed our administration’s vision for this City — one where New York’s Cutest have the strongest start possible.

Shame, but at least we now know it's dubious at best

Trump just publicly referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Iran.” Not only does this look like total capitulation from his administration but I am trying to imagine the GOP/Fox response if Joe Biden had said this.

We’re fighting for transparency over Palantir NHS briefing documents | Good Law Project Wes Streeting is refusing to publish documents that will provide the truth about the risks of Palantir’s systems for handling our health records, so we’re fighting back

In public, Wes Streeting is furiously back-pedaling from his earlier Palantir cheerleading.

But in private he is refusing to let us see what civil servants told him about Palantir

So, with @petergeoghegan.bsky.social, we are taking him to court to try and force him to hand over the briefings.

The £100,000 fix for Britain's big money problem Farage’s mega donors have exposed the fatal flaw in Starmer's Elections Bill. Capping all political donations would be simple, popular - and transformative.

‘Ben Delo shows how easily Labour’s curbs on foreign money can be circumvented.

Starmer needs to put the integrity of British democracy first and use his Elections Bill as what it is: a once-in-a-generation opportunity to take big money out of politics’

So Scottish tax policy is brutal, only because of what it is relative to in the rest of the UK.

median works well for wages but the Scottish median is 8-10% less than England & as much as 33% less than London. That table now starts to highlight wage inequity rather than favourable tax system. Also doesn't reflect lost benefits as you move up scale, lost personal allowances (60% marginal rate).

I think to validate the cognitive test you'd probably need to either blank the guy on the rights face, or give the doctor eyes and a mouth

BBC News leading all its bulletins on demands by former Government advisor Lord Robertson for more defence spending, without at any point mentioning his current paid senior role for US defence lobbyists

Quite fond of civic nationalism, which has a definition under which we fit, as opposed to populist nationalism that Farage et al would appreciate. I mean, the SNP tax policy feels pretty brutal but the free nursery places were worth it

Nah, but it ties with the logic expressed to date. I'm happy not to take credit for him or other shit Scots, like Trump

Great, we can agree to disagree. I want a leader, you'd like a dull technocrat who's propping up the rise of Nigel

And Blair is a warmonger - think we can all agree on, but he clearly was convincing enough to achieve that! Also Scottish.

Another great example of lacklustre - Scotland already has renters rights and they are more extensive. I'm glad that England is catching up with our progressive democracy, but one reasonably assumes with the majority Starmer has he could have gone further, faster.

An articulate PM would help communicate a vision. Blair could speak, Starmer mumbles.

Regardless, interesting counter to the point of lacklustre English PM to point to EU alignment. Does anything illustrate better crappy English leadership of the UK than Brexit?

It's significantly more rousing than Starmer can manage. Draws a line with Trump through inference. Ignore the Trump factor and +ve vision of Canada, some clear policies prioritising Canada, best of all, clear annunciation - left with a sense of leadership, of vision, of momentum.

Would be nice if Keir Starmer could speak. Would be nice to have a "buy UK" policy. Would be nice if we stopped supporting bombing Iran. Would be nice if Labour had a vision.

Guess it all comes down to the UK getting the lacklustre politicians England votes for #labour #uknotok
