Question for the floor - if you had a business idea that might be great for the environment/society - but the only way it could happen is by accepting money from Peter Thiel, or Elon Musk, would you say yes? Why/why not?
(As an anti-capitalist; I struggle with the idea of "good capital").

Nice, yeah perhaps this makes more sense. Win-win for nestle!
Wonder if there is more to it? I think it's easy to underestimate the value of this though (Nestle have a terrible reputation, and rightly so!)
Corporate greenwashing? 🙂

Ohhhhhh ok cool - I think I will be able to sleep happily now, this has always confused me!!
printer settings
Whenever I go to print something, I am given the option of selecting to print Odd or Even pages only... and I am not being funny but, what kind of lunatic would choose either of those options??? Is there an actual scenario when this is useful?
Critically endangered crafts Crafts classified as 'critically endangered' are those at serious risk of no longer being practised. They m include crafts with a shrinking base of craftspeople, crafts with limited training opportunities, crafts wit financial viability, or crafts where there is no mechanism to pass on the skills and knowledge. rutger bregman linkedin post
Rutger Bregman is so full of shit apparently he needs 3 people to help him put on his trousers every morning.
He claims to be morally superior to the rest of us - pushing ppl to leave ChatGPT and then recommending Anthropic!!
Why not use your position of privilege and actually say something?
That will be all - thank you - please make the nobel prize out to Matt "Carl Marks" Tutt (to use my full birthname).
The other day I figured how to fix the internet:
Step 1 - Make it free (take ownership back from the corporations) - internet access is a human right.
Step 2 - Charge a yearly tax (we pay road tax, why not internet tax).
Taxes go towards WORTHY online causes eg local newsrooms. And means no ADS!!
How to be ‘anti-AI’ in the 21st century: overcoming the inevitability narrative - paper screenshot
There is a very good debate on AI which is worth a read (quite short!) - How to be ‘anti-AI’ in the 21st century: overcoming the inevitability narrative
bristoluniversitypressdigital.com/view/journal...
Yep we are very much in a "let's just adopt it" tech-controlled society, without any kind of prior research or communal approval, and then down the line we will only start to realise/see the damage (and by then it is too late!).
Hope you enjoy the paper anyway!
Lovely stuff!! I read a nice article yesterday you may also enjoy:

Anyone got any good suggestions? Maybe we can make a playlist!!!
Israeli govt continues to demonstrate its belligerence. Traditionally the US used to try to pull it back from its illegal activities. The Biden-Trump years will go down as ones where the US facilitated astonishing war crimes & genocide. The breach of the ceasefire is a disaster for the US*
I'm trying to document as many anti big tech movements that exist as possible, on the No To Big Tech website. I know there are lots! I want to signpost and support existing movements.

I do some bits with the IDN (International Degrowth Network) and they have recently launched their 2026 Degrowth Events Fund.
If you're a degrowth-aligned organisation you can apply for upto €1,000 via their grant - they have €15,000 to share (last year they supported around 13 org's!).
Great organisation doing important work! 👏
Extreme heat and flooding are now impacting every level of football.
Yet the beautiful game's governing body, FIFA, continues to promote the world's most polluting company - Aramco. ⚽️💨

This is literally all it boils down to. Thank you for saying it!!!!!
I’m far less troubled by the existence of LLMs than I am by the many, *many* professional thinkers who are just like 🤷🏼♀️ “I guess this is the world now!”
Long shot - anyone got a good/budget keyboard + mouse combo they might recommend? I need both... keyboard is the priority.
'budget keyboard' is a bit contextual, I guess by this I mean, nothing crazy $$$ but also something that should last a bit.
Tried repairing my last keyboard but failed 😪
movements don’t need heroes. history should never be built or taught around great men, or women.
the collective is why change happens—that is what should be celebrated.
I should add at this point - I have nothing against any employees of Google etc - I don't blame those who work for Big Tech - the issue (as always!) lays at the heads of these organisations. They dictate operations, strategy and such. Workers are employees - it doesn't make them 'bad' people ✌️
