The long weekend for cinephiles: highlights from Cinema Rediscovered 2025 From a Kurosawa-style epic of towering scale to a 1960s geisha drama, Christina Newland finds Bristol’s annual feast of archive cinema as alluring as ever.

Hailed as the jewel in the crown of this year’s Cinema Rediscovered programme, The Fall of Otrar screens this Sunday at GFT. A rare chance to experience it on the big screen ✨

The final instalment… Thoughts on Absolute Beginners?

8 months ago 5 3 1 0

I loved this film when I saw it during its first-run release! The two musical numbers with David Bowie singing the title track “Absolute Beginners” and “That’s Inspiration” are among my favorite songs by Bowie! Your post makes me hopeful the film has been restored and, hopefully, re-released!!!
