After a bit of a rocky start my first book of 2026 lands on Amazon tomorrow
Posts by John Ludden
The most famous warm-up in football history.
On this day in 1989, Napoli faced Bayern Munich at Olimpiastadion in Munich and Diego (inadvertently) created a piece of art for the ages 🥹
Coming together...
I always thought when writing this it would be so apt to end with a line from the novel, on whose title the book gratefully borrowed. Referencing Sir Matt and ten years on from Munich...
''I wish you to know that you have
been the last dream of my soul.''
A Tale Of Two Cities ❤️

My Matt Busby-George Best Book/play is coming along nicely. Once you catch the rhythm of the two men chatting, the words flow. Going to be a sea of tears this, but also etched with lots of laughter. Like Matt and Jimmy nothing will get left on the page.
Will be a play as well my friend
Following on from my Sir Matt and Jimmy. Next up Sir Matt and George. The story is set in 1991 at Sir Matt's Old Trafford testimonial. The two come together after the game and sat in an empty stadium they simply chat. "Scattered Pictures" Coming soon.
God bless mate 💙
Diabetic MOT continues unabated but all good. Lost a load of weight but that's the meds. In contention for the bench on Monday when United play again for the first time in fifteen years .
Turned our clocks back to 1978 so it's Subbuteo this afternoon!
Thank you matt!
One of the best books, if not the best I’ve ever read, about the best footballer there’s ever been. If you haven’t read it then do so as soon as you can. Forza Diego siempre 💙
21 years ago today on the 25 March 2005, Once Upon a Time in Naples was published and went into Sportspages front window! At the time my second home! Very proud of this book, been helluva journey, translated in 4 languages. There's a book on this book. Story not yet over!
Manchester: Portland St: Circus Tavern: 1957
Looking at getting back into ghostwriting. Two examples of my work that were both critically acclaimed and reached number one in the Amazon charts. Please contact if interested.
Morning Alan, I'm getting there my mate thanks.
Back working today. Wrote a pile of words but I fear greatly not necessarily in the right order. To partly quote Eric!
Belgrade. Wednesday 5 February 1958. The Last line up of the ''Busby Babes'' before they took on Red Star.
''On a pitch with the last remnants of snow still visible, but melting fast in the afternoon sunshine, spring seemed close. United were ready...''
Monday 3rd February 1958. Shortly after 8.00am, on a misty, rain-sodden morning, British European Airways flight G-ALZU AS57, soared off the Manchester runway heading south on a two thousand mile round trip over the channel. United went first Munich to refuel then onto Belgrade.
Im sure our 2008 team would beat this present Arsenal mob even though they're all getting on a bit.
A few words on United. johnludden25.wordpress.com/2026/01/06/j...
thanks my mate x
I really enjoyed this John. You have a remarkable talent for painting a picture with words. Lovely story!
2025 Highlights. 3 days in Kyiv. Surreal. Getting the Cuba gig. Adam Summerton mentioning my McTominay book live on TNT when Napoli played Caligari to win the title. Made me spill my wine! A week in Naples for the book launch. Staying really busy. Having over 30 books in Central library. Mad!
Next up... A concoction of both factual and dramatised accounts. Behind the sea of confetti sparkling iike a million diamonds lay so much blood on the ball.
So looking forward to reading this from Moston's finest wordsmith 🖤
Available Friday.
Moston. Christmas Eve 1979. St Joseph’s cemetery. A freezing cold evening, and the skies are filled with heavy snow. A lone lantern shines in the one small window of the grave diggers hut. Inside are four men huddled around a small gas fire. So we begin...
