I made this comic for Signal Cleveland about how to plant a tree. Cleveland is trying to boost the tree canopy and the Western Reserve Land Conservancy will hook you up with a tree but it turns out there's proper ways to plant them if you want them to survive.

So much of what we go through is universal & yet we all feel so isolated. I am not a farmer in California but those emotions are in me too and it’s the grace of Steinbeck’s words that allow me to see myself in such a foreign place and commiserate with people so far removed from what I know.

1/2 Almost done with Steinbeck’s East of Eden , what an incredible book.
I liked him when I read him in high school but I was far too young to really appreciate the facility with which he conveys the human experience.
