That's true dedication!
I remember speaking to Susan Rogers, who said he laid down the drum tracks to the first three songs in one continuous take, then overdubbed immediately on to them to finish all three pretty much there and then. Mind blowing.
Can't have too many copies of Parade!
Parade by Prince.
So much beauty and brilliance came before and after, but Parade was my gateway drug. It absolutely blew me away as a 12-year old, and it is still my very favourite Prince album.

A blurred gig pic of lights, darkness and blue. Prince is in there somewhere.
A photo from the only time I saw Prince perform. It was a beautiful night.

Cheers!

The new Uncut with Tom Waits on the cover
Opening spread of Tom Waits feature in Uncut
I really enjoyed putting together the cover story for the new @uncutmagazine.bsky.social, where I got to talk to a whole bunch of great artists about different aspects of Tom Waits genius: songwriter, showman, storyteller, actor, avant-garde inspiration...
Two cats sit in a box. The ginger one on the left appears to be huffing a bottle of cantu shampoo. The black cat on the right appears to be doing an impression of Keith Richards circa 1976
Mean Cats on Cantu (an occasional series).
Interesting. It hits very differently for me, but that's part of its brilliance.
