Getting ready for the #JointSession25 of the @aristotsoc.bsky.social in sunny Glasgow — and very excited to be presenting a paper I’ve been working on on the nature of confidence in rational decision-making at the #PostgraduateSession on Saturday! Looking forward to the discussion ☀️
Very interesting how Germany’s support of the overthrow of Iran’s regime is more vocal when it involves foreign bombs than when it involves non-violent protest by the Iranian people.

Negative dialectics is when Twitter (synthesis) split into X (thesis) and BlueSky (antithesis). We're doing dialectics backwards
Getting a glimpse at summer in NC ☀️🌸
An emotional day - I can announce I'll be the first director of The Jeremy Coller Centre for Animal Sentience at the LSE, supported by a £4m grant from the Jeremy Coller Foundation. Our mission: to develop better policies, laws and ways of caring for animals. (1/2)

The Scottish Enlightenment is pretty weird. Like...suddenly everyone in Scotland just got super smart??
Very suspicious.
Merz just said on German TV that the primary priority of his government will be to ensure that Europe can achieve full strategic independence from the United States in the defence against Russia.
Merz was once a die hard Atlanicist. Now, after Trump he is a Gaullist.
Extraordinary.

Not being anti-fascist at this moment in history is anti-science. Probably always was. But cannot be clearer than these last few weeks.
Very interesting to look at the age distribution in the exit poll. The SPD which already did very poorly with young voters last time continues to loose further there - a party of pensioners. Interestingly, also huge losses for the Greens among young voters and massive gains for the Linke.
German election exit poll: CDU/CSU 29% (respectable, just about), AfD 19.5% (long-term worrying but no late shock), SPD 16% (historic low); Greens 13.5% (just below last time); Left 8.5% (huge last-minute spurt); FDP 4.9% (may/may not get in)
Election day - hopefully the results will be as demure as this dog waiting outside the polling place
Habe gerade mit meinen Eltern gesprochen, nachdem mir seit Mittwoch die Kraft dazu fehlte. “Ja Mutter, das passiert wirklich. Ja, Vater, die meinen uns. Ja, bald.”
Me, trying to cope with all the recent political events (donut = PhD in Philosophy)
Perhaps Merz got the idea of a firewall wrong. Somebody please tell this man it’s not about setting things, e.g. democracy, on fire
A drawing from the XKCD web comic showing a large structure of stacked rectangles labeled “sophisticated formal apparatus” supported by a slender pillar labeled “vibes.”
I thought, “we need to make the methods of analytic philosophy more rigorous,” just meant this:
Imagine an issue. Wrong, it's more complicated than that
Epistemic Rule 34: if X is a thing, epistemic X is also a thing
I’ve been advised that even as a PhD student, it’s nice to have a website. So, I now have one!
You can see some of my research and other projects there, like an immersive installation where you walk inside a spider’s head.

A lot of people like to say analytic philosophy is a degenerating, scholastic research program, producing nothing of value. And to them I say: Feallsanachd
This is amazing, I’d love to join if the list is still open!
