All that is definitely still there. When it's doing that Metroid Prime does best, it really shines. It's just the additions that detract from the experience for me and a lot of them could easily be turned into options with a patch.

Like for example, there's a moment in this game that gave me the same feeling as landing on Crateria in Super Metroid where you land in an unforgiving and hostile environment and I loved it, until Miles radioed me with a completely useless hint and absolutely ruined the vibe.

Apart from the story which is really weak, the rest of the game is great. The desert is as barren as it looks but it didn't really bother me as much. There's still backtracking and the usual Metroid Prime game design is here. It's just that pesky mandatory hint system which really irritates me.

I found myself actually using the control beam more in combat in hard mode. It actually forces you to engage with the mechanics a lot more.

I feel like the option to turn off the hint system in #MetroidPrime4 would go an unbelievably long way to improving the experience for me personally.
