"Home can be a place of death . . . and death can be welcome." That's from my book DEAD END, published by Journal Stone, and that sentiment seems to fit the mood lately. journalstone.com/bookstore/de...
Thanks! They’re really cool.
Me getting left behind by AI.
So perfect.
I’d forgotten just how brilliant season 3 is of THE LEFTOVERS…
Looks great!
Crazily, I did. Thanks @gabino.bsky.social!
Absolutely love HACKS. Brilliant writing. Perfectly acted.

Timing couldn’t be better: I got my progressive lenses today. Someone tell Clarence Thomas!
I’ve been revising a novella I wrote and I’m really enjoying it. Put me in a great mood today. Hope the story finds a home!
About to rewatch my favorite episode of THE LEFTOVERS: “International Assassin.”
Want to listen to Caroline Bicks talk about Steve King (that's me)? You can do it on Neil McRobert's TALKING SCARED podcast. McRobert is smart and Bicks is equally smart. You'll enjoy it.
“A little too much? But how to fix?” LOVED this episode @talkscaredpod.bsky.social @carolinebicks.bsky.social Such damn cool insight into @stephenking.bsky.social ‘s work. MONSTERS IN THE ARCHIVE is a phenomenal read. I can’t wait for my physical copy!

“Read the book, not the summary.
Write the piece, not the prompt.
Suffer like the artist you are. It ain’t easy, but if it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing.”
I agree with this. Reminds me of the toaster leavins episode of Married with Children. I love a good crunch.
In my classroom, in my car, and in my pocket: DON’T CALL IT ART @austinkleon.bsky.social
I say get preachy, sit extra high on your high horse, stack soapbox upon soapbox, and megaphone your beliefs so loudly and clearly that you piss off a whole bunch of people. #5amwritersclub
No doubt. A few years back, he removed MILK & HONEY from the library for its graphic sexuality.

“We liked this piece. It felt human.”
Man, that’s everything.

Hilariously, while talking to him I realized he wasn’t smart enough to understand the book.
“The book glorifies violence,” he said.
“Against the white settlers trying to eradicate Indigenous peoples and the Buffalo? I hope it does,” I said.
Maybe I shouldn’t have been so honest.
Alas, BHH will not be part of my curriculum. My principal had “deep concerns” about the “glorification of violence” in the book, so I agreed to withdraw the book from consideration.
