While Bernie made his way to a group of local organizers in Tarrant, I asked if he would call for support of local grassroots organizers. He obliged. I would really love it if he & others w/ resources would make local investments in grassroots organizing.
We live in the epicenter of extremism, but also the epicenter of change.
I was tabling for Tarrant4Change & got invited backstage to meet Bernie & others.
The biggest highlight was getting to congratulate local organizers @senormoran.bsky.social & @tevitauhatafe.bsky.social on their speeches.
A Senator from Vermont, a Congressman from Austin @repcasar.bsky.social , & a former Congressman & US Senate candidate from El Paso @betoorourke.bsky.social can give speeches to motivate folks, but the hard work & future is on us in Tarrant County.
This requires a long term commitment & means investing in those that are standing up to work on the front lines for our local communities.
The work requires local grassroots organizing to fight today, win tomorrow, & most importantly, create a society that is safe, just, equitable, & inclusive (which means not just for elections).
While it's great to see so many come together to fight against the oligarchy & authoritarianism/fascism, the progressive movement still needs to improve how we actually build power to change what is happening.
Yesterday, @sanders.senate.gov was in Fort Worth & I attended with so many others in Tarrant County & Texas. For me I was there to encourage folks to support local organizers.

Not too sure I understand the effort. I read the Google doc, but one volunteer from each congressional district? I need more details on what this actually is before I would encourage folks to participate. Seems like a filler task vs building actual local power.
