Nora rightly points out the fascism in Canada is fundamentally connected to the land and the colonial system of property ownership. Fascism doesn't just target bodies; it targets the land. From "settling the west" to "lebensraum", the land is central to the fascist imagination.

Fascism doesn't need to pave new roads to get to power in Canada. It simply needs to follow the (sometimes literal) tracks laid by Canada's history as a white supremacist, settler colonial society.

If you're suddenly worried about fascism, that's because the circle has already begun to close.

Fascism is here and is spreading: promoting patriarchy (military spending), authoritarianism (anti-trans legislation/strong mayor powers/school board takeovers), disdain for public service (15% across the board cuts, gutting education/healthcare), nationalism ("elbows up," anti-immigration rhetoric)

Because I don't see a consistent foreign policy vision other than saying what is convenient in the moment, then clarifying, backtracking and/or apologizing.
