Generative NPC dialogue feels like the end point of someone looking at Oblivion's NPC interactions and thinking even that had too much soul in it. Let's make it even flatter
I personally also loathe the idea of removing author-guided themes and direction in every bit of the writing just so the npcs don't repeat dialogue. It'll make the world more vacuous and shallow, but I fear a lot of gamers aren't that bothered by the idea as long as it hits some vague fiction tropes
