For me, every day is Earth Day, because my motto is:
instead of using saws to destroy trees, use them to make music!

Thank you for including me in this wonderful article by Alesandra Tejeda! This afternoon I will busk at the Union Sq subway/14th st - if you see me, come say 'hi' :)
This was the run through (the 1st and last time we played the piece together before show time) for Easter Sunday's bell ringing at Trinity LIC. Nicholas Suminski - piano youtu.be/RtAUpTj8p9U
The piece is 'Tis a Gift to Be Simple (aka 'Simple Gifts). Arranged for bells by Sue Garton.

Thank you for listening & for your kind words! You are right, it takes effort to hit pitches right on. About the theremin: thereminist Clara Rockmore told me that when Leon Theremin invented his instrument, the saw was a popular musical instrument & he aimed to imitate its sound electronically.
Thank you very much for listening and for your kind words!💝🪚
Since you are familiar with saw playing (and not many people are), may I suggest my

Thank you for your kind words, dear dawse💝🫶🪚

חג שמח!
Thank you for your kind words! It makes me very happy that you enjoyed my playing!
I remember this sawist when he came to visit me in the NYC subway many years ago, because I also play the saw. This is me playing:
Spotify - open.spotify.com/album/2ezZhd...
Apple Music - music.apple.com/us/album/pla... I hope you like it!
When Leon Theremin invented his instrument, the saw was a popular musical instrument & he aimed to imitate its sound electronically. He did a great job!
I play saw, too:
Spotify open.spotify.com/album/2ezZhd...
Apple Music music.apple.com/us/album/pla... I hope you like it!
How cool - thank you for telling me.
Fantastic historical document! Where did you find it, please? Here is a recording of Paul youtu.be/jr3eR5K9d6A?...
Was this in a movie? I wonder who the sawist was.
Playing the saw on a moving bus is not easy! I once played on a train - the movement of the vehicle causes the saw to move, so it's harder to hold a steady pitch.
We are mentioned in the New York Times:
Thank you for your good words about an album with saw! I also play the saw. This is me:

Apple Music - music.apple.com/us/album/pla... I hope you like it!
You know Melvyn Douglas did not really play the saw in the scene in this movie, right, as the sound on the soundtrack is of a bowed saw? Obviously someone who really knows how to play provided the soundtrack. I love how he calls the saw "The Indiana Harpsicord"😀🪚
When I was busking today, a nice gentleman told me he recognized my playing on the movie Time Out of Mind which he watched on Youtube. That's how I learned this movie is now on youtube. You can hear my musical saw as Richard Gere walks through Grand Central at 1:37:49 youtu.be/YzTGUlSozck?...
