Eg offering something out of politeness that will not be accepted.
Or declining something (politeness again) on the 1st time of asking (& poss more times).

Well it serves the purpose of providing 'legitimacy' for their own hateful views. It is never about facts or truth (which just get in the way): it's about spreading the hate.

Just to be clear, denial of hate crimes (towards any group) is part of hate towards that group, esp when it is part of an established (in this case, alt-right) conspiracy theory.
You have to ask why someone would want to deny a hate crime & blame it on the targets...
