Call to join a protest for climate change saying the energy crisis is the climate crisis on a green background with a megaphone
JOIN THE EARTH DAY PROTEST: 5.30pm, 22/4
Next Wednesday, 22nd April, Party Leader Roderic O'Gorman will bring a Green Party motion to the DĂĄil to mark Earth Day.
It calls for a renewed commitment to our 2030 climate targets, the protection of the Climate Act, and increased investment in nature.
And because the Govt. majority on the Oireachtas Infrastructure Committee voted to avoid the pre-legislative scrutiny process, TDs and Senators cannot even question the Government's rationale for targeting the Climate Action Act, and why this Bill is being steamrolled through the Oireachtas (2/2)
The Critical Infrastructure Bill as drafted will be the death of the Climate Action Act.
It will mean that major projects in areas like energy and transport - some of the biggest building projects in the State - will no longer be checked for their climate impact (1/2)
Today I am voting no confidence in the Government.
They have not only failed in their reactions last week, but are now failing to lead us away from our fossil fuel dependence.
Until we break this addiction, Irish families and businesses will all be at the mercy of the whims of Putin, Trump...
This is a great article by @marcocathasaigh.bsky.social
The only certainties in life are death and taxes, so at least let's make tax work for us
This is how you are supposed to react to high oil prices. We have just been bounced into do itn the opposite. Delaying carbon tax under pressure from the protestors will slow our move away from fossil fuel. In the long run we all lose.
The long-term solution to the fossil fuel crisis is *not* more fossil fuels.
The Green Party has no confidence in this government
Over the course of last week, the actions of the Government continually made a difficult situation worse.
They caused confusion, raised tensions, and failed to protect Irish peopleâs ability to go about their lives for 5 days.
It has no plan to move Ireland away from its addiction to fossil fuels
Seeing Victor OrbĂĄn concede defeat feels like a big moment for Europe - we have seen 16 years of eroding social rights in Europe, rescinding LGBT freedoms, rights for refugees and women and building fossil fuel based alliances with Russia

Picture of an article in the journal and the caption can the carbon tax be cut by government
@rodericogorman.bsky.social contributed to this article on @thejournal.ie today.
It looks at the effects of removing the carbon tax, and how weâd only end up paying anyway

Worth a repost given the times weâre in
If we donât pay it here, where we can then use it to pay for social protection measures such as fuel allowance & energy credits, or to provide warmer homes, then it will be paid to the EU where we have no control over how it is spent.
The only way to durably protect hauliers - and the economy - against fossil fuel shocks is to support them to electrify trucks.
Sales of electric trucks in China outsold diesel trucks last December.
So far this year, only one electric HVG was newly registered in Ireland.

Why is the Dublin Taskforce delayed as the cityâs decay through dereliction continues? @janetphorner.bsky.social tries to move it forward here
Our @niallgalway.bsky.social spoke to The Hard Shoulder on @newstalkfm.bsky.social to talk about the decision to approve the #Galwayringroad
It was good to catch up with Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid again today in Leinster House. Janet, Roderic, and Malcolm were briefed on the latest ongoings in Palestine and reaffirmed our support for passing the Occupied Territories Bill.
My full pres release on the ring road approval decision is available at greenparty.ie/news/ring-ro...
A really accessible explanation of what's involved in the Hungarian election on Sunday â and a real-world example of what the "illiberal democracy" of the populist right looks like.
Ring Road approved, but Galway deserves more than just another road, says Greensâ Murphy

The Critical Infrastructure Bill means that projects that definitely will have a climate impact; big energy projects like liquefied natural gas and electricity sucking data centres, these projects will no longer have their climate impact assessed when they're going for planning permission.
The Critical Infrastructure Bill will be the death of the Climate Action Act

Horrific.
My thoughts are with the man who was brutally killed on our roads today and all who loved him.
No one should lose their life like this on our streets and we have so much work still to do in Dublin to stop this happening again.

âïžClimate change is real
âïžIt's impacting Irish weather
âïžIt's costing you money
âïžand it's getting worse year-on-year.
The Climate Change Advisory Council's report "Our Changing Climate 2025" shows us that extreme weather is no longer the exception, it's the new reality.
It's been a good week for Greens across Europe, with Mayoral wins in France and Germany and now a second place result for the Green Left @sf.dk in Denmark!
Congrats - tillykke! đ©đ°
