It’s everyday living costs, rent, food, heating. The maintenance loan doesn’t cover most rents now so families have to make up the deficit or students need to work and have less time to study. Social mobility - you’re having a laugh.

My state comp educated daughter is at Oxford. Many of her peers were privately educated. They just don’t have the same worries. £9k a year is small fry compared to previous annual school fees and some have rent paid in advance or even own houses. It’s becoming unaffordable for ordinary people.

Completely agree. Felt the there was a lack of atmosphere for poor Sonay Kartal’s match. I get there’s lots to do around the grounds but real fans wouldn’t have missed a ball.
