what a cutie! 🥺
can you tell how jubilant & inspired I am by what we’ve been finding on Bennu and Ryugu? 🤭 work in progress!

AI slop melting like dirty ice piles by the side of the creative road
full scale charnia test print was a success! the final result will be printed in a matte material & painted for the exhibit, but the colors here are still incredibly charming. video in thread!

version one of my charnia sculpture came out so good! i am endlessly impressed by the quality of bambu printers. time to scale it up and paint 🏃♀️

recent work in progress. i’m a novice 3D modeler and this is by no means an accurate paleontological render, but for an art show that will feature mostly laypeople it works! to be printed & painted as a part of an interactive exhibit

very bare bones for now but WIP of a late hadean earth!

instead of a slushball interpretation i wanted to subtly render variations in ice sheet thickness to indicate isolated refuges that supported life, although it is a bit hard to notice with the cloud cover.

whats most surprising is that life not only survived this period, but diversified. it’s even suggested that these environmental changes could’ve triggered the emergence of multicellular life.
~700 Ma: THE STURTIAN GLACIATION
the sturtian glaciation was one of multiple global ice age events known as “snowball earth,” an endlessly fascinating muse to render! (more in thread 🧵)

MARS, A LIVING WORLD
a conceptual illustration of ancient mars, when it hosted a vast ocean & potentially life. see thread for more details! 🧵

the speculative biota of this planet is subtle—alien organisms akin to algae have transitioned onto the harsh land environment, abundant enough to visibly clump near shorelines and lakes.
worth noting that i did lightly reference some NASA measurements for ocean accumulation, but focused more on overall artistic licensure than geological accuracy.

after four failed prints and one very careful filament change mid-extrusion, my hadean earth model is complete & ready for post-processing!

An embroidery of an inner ear done in bone white thread on dark purple linen. The centre of the spiral is labeled “nave of vibration”, the body of the inner ear is labeled “plumes of sound”, and the tubes are labeled “windows open.”
It’s #WorldHearingDay to raise awareness about hearing health and accessibility. Here’s my #SciArt #embroidery of the cochlea/inner ear—nave of vibration (2017)—which I did while researching my symptoms of hyperacusis.
the way i was in a terrence malick movie for like 4 days and now i have to return to freezing temperatures 🤨
What an honor it was to get all three of my art pieces displayed at TAPS 2026! This is the first time my work has ever been exhibited in a gallery, and my first time out of my element (off the east coast)…
GOODBYE TUCSON, & THANK YOU! until next year! 🥺😢

i love to see another CSP user! remarkable piece as well.
hard agree on the layer effects though, i tend to revert to procreate exactly for that reason
procreate for all my astronomy stuff, but for geology & landscapes i use e-on VUE because i never ever want to learn blender. 😉
if you are in the tucson AZ area, come down to the kuiper space sciences building to see me & some of my featured work!

fairly old & simple piece of a late earth & red giant sun from last summer. still one of my hard favorites; would love to make it into a post card for a monthly mail club one day!
