This week is Dark Sky Week and I didn't expect to be writing a follow-up to this story about elected officials recognizing the event. But there's a Dark Sky angle from a Planning Commission meeting and an easy story to write while watching a match

Done!
As a retired elementary teacher, I read this thread with such frustration for all who experienced this kind of learning struggle/humiliation. We really fuck up teaching when we set sort learners into “strength” categories. And don’t get me started on state testing for standards.
I ordered a five pack. So happy to be able to share with my friends!
Done. This cold is truly dangerous.

A blue, purple, and pink aurora in the early evening contrasting with the outlines of trees and dotted with stars.
An aurora in central VA, just now!
I donated $10. Thank you for doing this.
I resolve to think about others more.
Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!❤️🎄

A Monarch butterfly with its orange and black wings bordered with white dots on the edges, searches for nectar on the mauve pink flowers of Joe pye weed. The monarch’s wings are spread open and framed by the plant’s green serated leaves.

I have seen a more monarch butterflies on my Joe pye weed this year! Not sure if this is because these insects have found this patch, if the flowers are providing more food for them, or if I am just lucky in seeing them. Either way, I’ll take it!
Well this ENTIRE thread is a delight! Thank you for your service.
Challenge: Post your last photo taken in DC to show what a hellhole it is.
Hope she recovers quickly and fully.
Happy Birthday to your wonderful little guys! 🎂❤️
I am so sorry for your loss. ❤️
