I think my favorite part of this suit is where the guy who was suing because Afroman said he fucked his wife said on the witness stand that he did not know for sure that Afroman did not fuck his wife.

Was the Bartholdi Cocktail the original Stinger? "Green Mint" was likely Creme de Menthe, since fresh mint wasn't really referred to as "green".

From the New York Evening Telegram, January 15, 1891. See alt-text, which in the case of 135-year-old newsprint is helpful for all.

I came to realize that ginger pie was not some old-fashioned recipe fallen out of favor. It was more than that. By offering a slice, Maude
extends not only hospitality, but a slyly camouflaged offer of herself and Harold's first hints of escape from his doleful life. With the point of that pie, she wedges open Harold's somber soul and floods it with bracing warmth and sweetness, the distillate of her own fading life's fire and spice. Harold's change is so profound that he picks up a banjo, abandons his mourning suits, turns cartwheels, and declares his intention to marry a woman old enough to be his grandmother.
This pie doesn't affect those sorts of change; it's not likely—not likely, mind you—to prompt proposals.
Sitting here with a late-night wedge pilfered from the kitchen, though, I can't help but smile. In the end, I don't know what Maude's recipe was, but l've cemented friendships over slices of this rich, ginger-and-rum custard pie. Surely that is the sort of thing she meant to dish up.

Damn. Just catching up to the news that Bud Cort has died. In Hal Ashby’s 1971 film Harold and Maude, Ruth Gordon offered Cort ginger pie. For nearly 30 years, I’ve baked ginger pies inspired by that moment between them.

Recipe link in the replies. But first:

The difference between the Winter Olympics and Summer Olympics is that if I competed at the Summer Olympics I would humiliate myself while if I competed at the Winter Olympics I would die.

Rode the elevator yesterday with a DoorDasher delivering a paper bag of Taco Bell and. Listen. I am devoted to Taco Bell. But it is 20° and the streets are snow walled and you have this man fully risking death so you can reheat a thirty-four-dollar six-dollar crunchwrap in your microwave

Dirty soda started as a Mormon alternative to booze. Now it's everywhere. Take a soda, add syrup and cream and voilà — you've got a sober-curious sensation.

This has to be as awful as it sounds —> “Dirty soda started as a Mormon alternative to booze. Now it's everywhere.

How this sugary, creamy concoction went from ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ to the mainstream.”
