To say this will "close down theaters" is a stretch unless a theater ONLY runs foreign films. If anything itll cause theaters to limit these movies more or prevent them from playing it at all (essentially push out any non US film) which is very likely his plan overall

Movie theater worker here. While this is a shitty move on our overseas movie makers, it wont effect US movies. Tickets will likely stay same for US made movies but be higher for any "foreign" film. Sadly these films already get little notice with a more limited release and run.
