Probably helps with water drainage too. Beautiful example!

Building something new, for the people by the people.
Thank you for providing these actionable lists.
Some of us biked an hour+ to work today. When asked, we unanimously reported feeling more energetic and happy.
It's not just for the Earth. It's for yourself. For your family and community. Doing it again tomorrow just gets easier.
To build something better we must recognize the oppressed, invite them as equals to the table.

Great campaign success by ROBIN WOOD and campaigners in Italy, getting Porsche to wtihdraw a terrible proposal to destroy an ancient oak forest and habitat for rare species for testing racing cars!

Thanks to all the people bringing attention to projects like this and standing up for them.
Who else feels like cheering? 😊
We sued the government for failing to adequately consider the impact this massive oil sale would have on the critically endangered Gulf of Mexico Rice's whale and on climate change. The court ruled in our favor.

"There is no room for delays, and we really need to get started now. What we want from ETS2 is to push for permanent change," said Julie Kjestrup, Efficient Buildings Europe. "We’ve agreed to be climate neutral by 2050. We’re not discussing whether to do that; we are discussing how to get there."
Two maps of the United States, showing acid rain decreased after the environmental protections were in place. Results include annual SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide) reductions of over 95% and annual NOX (Nitrogen Oxides) emissions reductions of over 89%. These maps specifically show wet sulfate deposition – a common indicator of acid rain – dropped by more than 70% between 1989-1991 and 2020-2022. The Long Term Monitoring program (LTM), another monitoring program within EPA, observes surface waters to determine the effects of acid rain on aquatic ecosystems. During the time period in which wet sulfate deposition decreased, LTM data show an 81% improvement in the number of monitored streams and lakes that experienced critical load exceedances, an indicator that reveals when acid deposition levels are causing harmful effects. Before the environmental protections were in place the maps show major concentrations of acid rain induced wet sulfate deposition stretch I from Chicago to New York (Monitored from 1989-1991).
National Environmental Protections work. If we don't want to experience acid rain again we must keep them.
From the EPA, "wet sulfate deposition decreased, LTM data show an 81% improvement in the number of monitored streams and lakes."

"To understand it, we must consider the right’s hatred of working people, its (more than) mutual embrace of the tech industry and, primarily, its profound rejection of Enlightenment humanism."
The people who don't want diversity in humanity.
Why would they need diversity in their art & marketing?
Build riverine and flood protections with the ecosystem in mind.
Working with the animals in an ecosystem always wins over relocating them. They always come back.

“Dismantling environmental rules will hinder, not help, farmers: Invest in their resilience” - is the main message to @christophehansen.bsky.social from @birdlifeeurope.bsky.social and other 60 orgs. in the context of the EC "CAP simplification” plans.

We're happy to see the Stone-curlew's protection measures succeeding.
Keep going towards net-zero, it'll matter for all species.
Scientists do not get paid for getting quoted in the newspaper about science.
People know this, right?
Last year I was quoted in about 30 media articles, and I received a grand total of $0 for this.
We do it because it’s important, not because we get paid.

As federal protections are attacked, state action is more important than ever.
New York's climate law proves that we don't have to wait for federal action to tackle the climate crisis. More states must rise to the challenge.
🐺 EU moves to weaken wolf protection, NGOs warn of wider threats to nature 🍃
After 18 months campaigning, @ec.europa.eu now seeks to open up Europe's oldest environmental law to downgrade wolf protection.
This move sets a bad precedent of political games trumping
science and public opinion.
Look Ireland, if we really care about homelessness, it can be done!

Did you know that 38% of agrifood workers in the world are women?
Yet, #RuralWomen earn nearly 20% less than men and have reduced access to land, credit, technology and information.
This has to change.
