BIPOC isn’t a synonym for Black, and using it that way is both inaccurate and dismissive. It’s meant to highlight unique experiences of Black & Indigenous communities.
It erases Black identity, history, and the specificity of anti-Black racism. If you’re talking about Black people, just say Black.
It’s officially “Show me your favorite BIPOC authors” month.
Here’s a tip: search “Black + [your favorite genre]” Click on books, visit authors’ websites/socials, and follow them on Amazon.
Why? Because it trains your algorithm to include Black authors in your daily browsing—supporting them always
