Airbrushing Cobalt Blue is pretty bad-ass. It’s gorgeous in person, the one time I saw 2010 on display

Musicland 812 - October 1986 | Christopher Doll Get more from Christopher Doll on Patreon

It was a barbaric time. Phones were tethered, magazines existed, and digital meant Compact Disc. Smoking was allowed inside The Mall and the best cup of coffee was at Mrs. Fields. If you said STARBUCK people would think you meant a cancelled TV show

It’s a small slice of my life, an intersection with very cool people and one of the best jobs I ever had.

They locked up about four grand just after it arrived from a client. No explanation, no access, nobody would tell me why or when it would be released. It was a possible security issue, 30 day hold.

We unplugged it from our ecosystem within 20 hours, entirely

Today I wanted to set the stage for Cadmium Red Pale and Ultramarine Blue. The Ultramarine took a snooze more than I’d planned, but it’s a fun result

The danger in sharing comics of my coworkers from Musicland 812, Lansing Michigan, is someone is bound to have photos of our time at Musicland back in Q
1988.

Submitted to you all for review, I’m in the first photo. One of the two young ladies punched me in the face once and I 100% deserved it

How many times a day do you perform a full-on face-palm in the privacy of your workspace? I know most people would have an immunity at this point, but I’ll bet at least two or three of these stop you in your tracks on the daily

I worked at this very Musicland store in the Lansing Mall from 1986-88 or so. The photo is from the 70’s.

I was there the year vinyl was replaced by CD’s (mostly). So much great music launched into our brains those years.

It was a great time, a crazy time. Note the giant ashtray by the door

Artemis II Earthrise Canvas Print Painted live on April 10, 2026 just hours before the Artemis II crew returned to Earth after their historic mission around the moon. This was an exciting day and I couldn’t think of a better …

The original will be in the store soon, and had requests for prints. These canvas prints are now available - both in the original 16”x20” size and a smaller 8”x10” version. Thank you all for your support!

Here’s the finished painting rim my livestream, largely unaltered preserving the spontaneity
