I am glad to see this morning that my wheelie bin didnt chose to do a Mary Poppins last night.

A tightly cropped Hubble view of a vast star-forming region known as the Trifid Nebula. The top left is bright blue. Brown and amber colours run from top right through the center in irregular, overlapping lines to the bottom-center. At bottom right, the view is almost black. Tiny, amber-coloured stars appear throughout the scene. Toward the left there is a prominent brown shape that looks like a head with two horns. The left horn points left and is wavy. The right horn is triangular and points up. The brown dust continues, flowing down, as if along a back, and up toward the top right. A prominent line, about the same length as the left horn, appears below the middle of the body, and changes from orange to red. A small, separate semi-transparent pillar is left of the head. A few slightly larger, blue foreground stars with four diffraction spikes appear in the bottom half. Credit: NASA, ESA, STScI. Image processing: J. DePasquale (STScI)
🎂 Hubble gets ready for its 36th anniversary this 24 April with a dazzling image of the Trifid Nebula 🤩
The telescope looked at a scene it first observed in 1997, capturing changes over incredibly short cosmic timescales 👉 www.esa.int/Science_Expl...

power point slide showing the camera locations on the orion spacecraft. For Artemis II, the vehicle-mounted OIS comprises: • 4 Solar Array Wing (SAW) cameras • 3 in-cabin wireless cameras • 3 external wired cameras • 2 human-health monitoring cameras • 2 camera controllers • 1 Fwd Bay high speed camera Other optical systems: • 4 wireless cameras for NatGeo payload (proprietary data) • 4 Portable computing devices (tablets) with webcams • 2 Nikon D5 DSLR camera bodies (+ lenses, batteries, etc.) • 2 ZCube video encoders (prime + spare) • 1 Docking Camera (DCAM) • 1 Optical Navigation (OPNAV) camera • 1 drag-on temp-mount camera to monitor crew ingress (KSC system)
Of course I only found this post-flight, but there is a good presentation of all the camera systems installed on the Artemis II Orion spacecraft. #Artemis

Its like playing the Wheel of Fortune but always lands on the prize you don't really want. 😅
New Epstein-linked revelations show how neo-Nazi operative Andrew Auernheimer aka “Weev” became a crucial link between Peter Thiel and the online far-right subcultures waging “memetic warfare” against their enemies.

Question: Is this the actual imaging sensor?
Uni is blessing us again with beautiful toe beans. 💖✨
I worked with Candy Hansen on the Cassini UVIS team and the MRO HiRISE team. She was smart and kind and relentless in pursuing understanding of the solar system, and so welcoming to new team members. She made Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" photo actually happen. Ad astra, Candy. Thank you for everything.
Just found this YT vid of the NASA Johnson Style (Gangnam Style parody). Uploaded 13 years ago.
Man, I miss how quirky the internet back then. It was fun.

I like how Commander Reid Weisman, not letting go of Rise. They could have easily let the plushie go during extraction but the Commander held on to it.
That's really thoughtful - the way they treated Rise like the 5th member of the crew.

No way. 😭
Absolutely.
Reading is also resistance.
I, myself, was pretty negative or even on the edge of nihilism because of what is happening with geopolitical affairs.
But following Artemis II in the last few days gave me a spark of hope. Moon joy gave me hope to choose us, the best of us, again.

I have seen children looking at Artemis II, watching it with their little spacesuits. I am looking forward to that next generation to be inspired by this and continue to carry on the mantle of the best in us.

The other represented the worst of us - hell-bent destruction and manipulation of our integrated system of markets to satisfy endless greed.
The lines are clear: we should always choose the best of us.
Be the best human that we can be. We are capable of something better.

It is kind of jarring to see the juxtaposition of Artemis and the crap stirring caused by madmen like Netanyahu and Trump.
One represented the best we can do as a specie and our potential to eventually become an interstellar one.

That was so fast and the amount of effort just to escape/return safely with Earth's gravity.
Very important photo. A milestone of what we have come so far.
Also, I like how they got Rise as well in the extraction. They really treat it as a part of their crew. ✨
Surprised to see that they're able to walk and in a good form. I would have expected to be in wheelchair but it seems like NASA implemented changes to keep them healthy and able to survive the harsh conditions of space.

Amazing numbers. Wow.
