Never forget that a former Metra executive director, embroiled in fraud charges, took his own life by stepping in front of one of their trains.

I can’t imagine seeing MC for the first time in a theater in 2026, but there were some people there, doing that, and I hope they absolutely loved it, and want to see it again, lots more to appreciate on repeat viewings.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

It’s a beautiful spring day, time to rewatch Michael Clayton

Michael Clayton is of course great to lock in on with 150 other Claytonheads. Maybe the only time I’ve clapped in a movie theater. Someone shrieked when the cops caught Michael in the loft, and everyone laughed, really showing how tense the movie can be!

Very excited to see Michael Clayton in the theaters tonight. My second time!

The idea of a consumer buying an OTC drug because of those specific qualities is very funny. I wonder if they saw a tiny sales bump after Wayne’s World.

I am pleading with, uh, the gods above at this point, please return haptic control to everything except for cell phones. Zero other parts of tech work better with apps. Turn off the lamp with your hand.

In Brooklyn, they’re serious about housing and density (leaves huge gaps in multiple large buildings on purpose)

If this is ORD that’s a very long walk.

Seems like a good idea to manage and run a casino.

I’m already a tiny bit paranoid, I cannot imagine the stress of thinking “no, for real, the hammer is coming down.” Welp, time to watch Heat again!

A very dark way forward is if this dogshit centrist stuff persists, but there’s a tipping point where a great majority of voters know extremely disenfranchised folks, and neighbors in prison, or someone snatched up. They’re piece-mealing their way into hell.

Point being: a) it costs a bar tab to learn a ton about a person and maybe have a lifetime source. 2) no matter the counterintelligence, if you’re not paying for it, it’s not worth discussing. If our lawmakers and judges are swayed, not even easily but at all, by outcomes we’re broken.

Nothing lead to anything, boring story, but I was amazed that my smart, witty, on-the-nose journalist friend was dismissive of the idea that the government of China would spend the smallest amount possible to vet a journalist about to live and report from within their country.

And she’s going on, she’s very naturally personable, about her new job and politics and all the stuff. I’m maybe paranoid, and I’m only listening in, but she has obviously never heard of any type of personal security.

It’s tangential, but I’m reminded of my ex gf, we were still friends, she worked for the WSJ. Just got a new job in China, 2019, we were at a bar, chilling. And there’s a couple “cool” guys there that chat her up.

It’s an Apple Watch idea of reality, a Karen has more of an idea of whats going on than the pros. Are the pros perfect? No. Bags get left behind. Will annoying an FA enough that the pilots are asking dispatch, over the middle of the Atlantic, for updates help you get your bag? Let us know, Karen!

To be clear, this is their own customer-facing version of baggage tracking. I don’t know anything about Canadian aviation law, but in the US a flight flying internationally cannot leave the gate unless every bag on board corresponds to a passenger that has boarded.

If I ever own a car again, I will be driving multiple-thousand-mile road trips. Would love a plug-hybrid.
