I might have fallen in love with this rock i made on stream today.
It reminds me so much of the Sea of Thieves style, but more realistic

It's not even like i picked the worst from that time period. I just was absolutely clueless back then and just gave up on (full) 3D characters for quite some time, before i then went to uni

It's fine in 3D, really. Measuring is easy and if scale is off, you can just change it (given everything is set up properly)

I just realized how small this dragon was the whole time i worked on it, and i can't get over it. I was like "8m wingspan and 4.5m in length? Seems okay to me. That's a lot." the whole time, but then never checked how big/small it actually is lmao

Yeah, that's a great point. I was struggling to make it all work due to the requested lighting situation (paired with the character's palette), so i added a bunch more lights for the foreground. But it may not have been enough. Thanks for your imput!

Sorry for rambling like that, i'll delete this later. This just hit me really hard emotionally after pouring so much time and effort into such a piece. I know there are a multitude of reasons for this.

That's the thing. The people who commissioned me always ended up being really happy with the end result. So the question with those special character designs is: How did i fail to make this interesting/appealing for everyone else? I only recall a single other design where this happened consistently.

I'm pouring all my heart and soul into these pieces, but it's starting to feel excruciatingly worthless, to say the least. It feels like i'm sitting at 10 followers, not 1.5k

I hate doing these posts, but..
I'd welcome some objective feedback on the quality of my art lately. Things are performing worse and worse with each piece and i'm at a point where i'm seriously doubting myself and my abilities in all of this - and i don't know why that is.
