What are your thoughts @jillbelch.bsky.social ?

11 months ago 1 0 1 0

- huge spending from commercial interests to distract, deny, delay
- other stories get more clicks, more money
- the facts don't resonate with most humans, we need to have:
- trusted messengers
- from relatable backgrounds
- telling human stories
- with hope
- and use the expertise of the arts

Often pondering this and looking for answers, so far some of what I've found:
- many people are too busy trying to survive too think about this
- others are preoccupied with social status
- many find it overwhelming
- few seek out this information

Before and after of a street showing a transpformation from lines of parked cars to a green bike path

The news has been more than a bit grim of late, so hooray for @carbonbrief.org providing some genuine and really meaningful **good** news: the UK's carbon emissions in 2024 were the lowest since 1872, because demand for fossil fuels just keeps decreasing.

Take great care

Yup, @jamellebouie.net has this exactly right. What these guys are celebrating/pursuing/yearning for is not masculine energy, it's *adolescent* energy. Drinking Red Bull, crushing Call of Duty, refusing to clean your room. It is indescribably pathetic. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/18/o...

I don't think wake-up calls will be enough

Most people are too preoccupied with short-term survival/self/status

Hopefully the bill can be a step in a good direction
