I'm trying to explain this to my boss. "How are we supposed to provide value to our clients if we're just taking AI prompts and giving it to them when they can just do that without our help?"
Even worse, it's "you don't deserve my attention, but I deserve your money"
There's also the 4th option that was what was happening in Sydney before Bondi, which was "local criminals literally being paid by the IRGC"
Anyway Fox McCloud being fucking isekai'd is hilarious and somehow works
Like yeah sure it's got lots of References, but it doesn't feel like it's abusing them for fanservice. It's more like they have traditional kids movie placeholder characters and then find some Mario thing that could fit that role. I think it works, tbh.
The Mario Galaxy movie definitely wasn't as focused as the first one, and that one wasn't even that focused, which is a shame. But some of the setpieces were so impressive I can't really be cynical about it like some of the internet.
emdash detected (this is a joke)
It's crazy how games have so successfully conditioned me into going to every side path first because I don't want to miss content
This hurt me personally
Okay the manga is clearer Krillin doesn't shut down 18 because he has a crush, but there's also a legitimate moral debate there on if it's okay to sacrifice someone (against her will) for the sake of the world, and I'm glad they don't openly resolve it with a 'correct' answer.
"It's fine, Gohan's got more potential than me, so he can beat Cell if I fail"
"Did you tell him that?"
"What?"
"Did you tell him that was your plan?"
"No, but-"
"Okay, what do you think he's thinking if he doesn't know that's the plan? Because you didn't tell him."
"...oh, shit."
Basically androids/cell is the most interesting part of dragon ball to me by far because it actually goes into the interpersonal relationships between the characters and how that affects their choices as well as "what do they do if they're in a martial arts fight to the death"
Okay, it's a bit understated in the manga, but I like the way Chi-Chi comforts Trunks by saying "But Goku would have died if you hadn't come, right? So I'm glad you came, even if it changed things."
God I'm so fucking cool
The more Torishima and Kondo were dissatisfied and made Toriyama change things, the worse it got for the heroes, and the more we felt like we were Trunks - lost, confused and feeling like this opened a box that can no longer be controlled until everyone on Earth is dead.
Changing the past feels like a cheat; an unfair cheat, so you almost want to see it lead to consequences. Having 3 extra androids and a fourth hijacking Trunks's time machine is exactly the kind of consequences that makes it a fun Genre story.
I guess we can't really compare it with hypotheticals, but the moment Trunks brings time travel into the equation, you almost expect things to not go as the time traveller expects. Because something as complex as changing the past isn't going to be that easy, right?
It's kind of amazing how a last-minute change due to editorial pressure turned it into a more interesting story. Trunks coming back and going "oh god these aren't the Androids I know, why has the past changed" really helps you feel like they're completely fucked.
Maybe Type-Moon stories ending up the way they are is just the natural outcome of the head writer not having an editor and the closest thing he has is his best friend from high school who really likes drawing blonde women
Like he uses FGO as an excuse to publish the entire essays he's made about his OCs' personalities. I feel like this kind of characterisation hits harder when everyone gets a specific day in the limelight rather than a big ensemble where each person is there for a specific kind of gag.
I also think Nasu can do a really good 'telling the story of someone's somewhat-mundane life' short story. I got pretty invested in Kujika in her focus chapter in Mahoyo and Tobimaru in his focus scene and Kimoni's idol in this recent scenario. I wish he did more of that.
Still need to read Kara no Kyokai to compare how Nasu does the male lead there, I guess.
Soujyuro might be able to do some crazy power scaling shit (while destroying his body in the process), but his role is more there to provide Aoko with the opportunity she needs rather than having his own personal demons to solo and save her from.
I like Soujyuro as a male lead a lot more than Shirou (jury's still out on Shiki). I think it's because at the end of the day, in Mahoyo the main character is clearly Aoko, so he's more of a support character than the guy who hogs all the screentime and important fights.
More Type-Moon rambling on the way to work because the Mahoyo FGO event was great and helped me understand its story more
According to nasu it's mahoyo 6
Thank you for the correction
Alright, what random anime thing is going to bring up the Nostradamus 1999 prophecy this time?
Mahoyo 5, I see.
(The collab with FGO)
(Mahoyo 2-4 don't actually exist)
(I love how incomprehensible Type-Moon can be)
The other day I saw a guy with charms of Eunie from Xenoblade 3 and I think a Jack Frost (SMT). People in this area have such good taste.
