I just said this to a friend, but I want all artists to know this:

"Your art will always be good. It's not slop! It's made with love and care. That speaks volumes! Doesn't matter if it's not "professional" quality. What matters is that you made it. That's what makes it really good."

Keep drawing!

I don't want to shoot videos
I don't want to post tutorials
I don't want to show my process
I don't want to pour varnish
I don't want to turn my canvas
I don't want to record my screen
I don't want to cultivate parasocial relationships
I just want to make pictures and shitpost

A bowman in black draws his longbow. Next to him, another bowman, handsome, crouches with foot resting on a rock. His bow is in his hand. At his other side, a boyish sprite.

From an original Story idea by John Reppion, alas, this project never came out. But I loved the idea. #bowman #fantasy #penandink

A painting of Lucifer tempting Jesus in the desert. Lucifer is INCREDIBLY naked, dirty, and lurid, rubbing up ons Jesus' robes from behind; his hand is open in offering and is placed in front of Jesus' crotch

I just re-found this painting, which was in a kid's bible I had growing up. I used to obssess over it, and I'm pretty sure seeing Lucifer here was the first time I thought a man was attractive? Over the years I'd think "it couldn't possibly be as horny as I remember it", but I mean come ON

It looks like it either is a straight up AI generated image, or was collaged together from AI pieces. How is the hood connecting to the cape with all that hair in the way? Why are the legs different sizes? What is going on with the belt? this can't be a real thing that real people designed.

I really gotta get the next one in the series finished up soon, I think you will be pleased with how it proceeds 😁 I would have had it done earlier but I keep fussing with the hand positioning and extraneous details, lol. 😅

Shockingly, that describes most of my characters as well. Hmm! I'm sure it means nothing; nothing to worry about here for either of us! 😁👌

And maybe when I get more sketches together I'll put them in a book; problem is I'd always rather be painting instead of formatting or printing or shipping. XD I'd need to give myself a deadline, too, or I'd be forever putting it off with, "just need to finish one more drawing to add," haha

Thanks Sam! And yeah, sometimes themes just feel right! One has to follow those instincts, even if they lead you to retread the same path in different ways 😅 I think I want to try to paint it; it's been harder finding painting time in between freelance work, but I'll make the time.

A pencil drawing of a sad woman standing among lotus leaves. Three great blue herons surround her, pulling out pieces of her heart to feast upon (this is stylized and not gory or scary).

I keep drawing people with either missing hearts, hearts being devoured or eaten, or things pouring out from their hearts. i'm sure that's nothing I need to worry about or think too deeply about, lol

I don't think we talk enough about the effect of art on us. I can see one drawing I really really like and I'll be happy for the rest of the day I'm not exaggerating. Your art makes someone feel that way. Your art makes someone happy. Your art helps someone get through the day.

YOU: Hi my name is [name]. I’m calling from [ZIP CODE].

YOU: Today, President Trump said that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran does not meet his deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That rhetoric is extreme, dangerous, and disqualifying.

FOR THOSE W/ DEM ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric and use every available procedural tool to stop further escalation, including support for impeachment and urgent public pressure on congressional leadership.

FOR THOSE W/ GOP ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric, press the administration and cabinet to treat this as disqualifying conduct.

YOU: Calling this what it is matters. Even if removal is difficult, elected officials should treat rhetoric like this as unfit and dangerous.

YOU: [OPTIONAL COMMENTS]

A fluffy white and brown kitty in an outdoor harness is rolling around on a sunny patio. Her fluffy belly is exposed, and she's rubbing her face on two little snake sculptures, with a blissed out look on her face.

I understand folks who are frustrated with space priorities right now in this dark & horrible time, but I also think it is hard for a lot of us not to be overcome by a bunch of truly earnest joyful nerds loving learning & discovery in an era so hostile to all earnestness, joy, learning & discovery.
