Illuminated poster at a Metro station featuring Goldman Prize winner Theonila Roka Matbob
Very proud to see my new friend and fellow @goldmanprize.bsky.social winner Theonila Roka Matbob at the Metro station!
Theonila forced Rio Tinto to begin to address the devastation caused by its long abandoned Panguna mine in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.

I am deeply honoured to have received the 2026 Goldman Environmental Prize for Europe. This recognises my long fight as part of @wealdactiongroup.bsky.social over fossil fuel production – and our eventual landmark legal victory.

@goldmanprize.bsky.social
Thank you
Thanks Annie. The IPCC puts methane at around 30% of total warming, this may be an underestimate. Whatever the figure, we need to reduce methane emissions ASAP, which is the aim of the @wealdactiongroup.bsky.social campaign.
Real leadership from the Pacific nations!
Oh look, the AMOC looks likely to collapse.
@rahmstorf.bsky.social is “increasingly worried that we may well pass that Amoc shutdown tipping point, where it becomes inevitable, in the middle of this century”.
Yet some still want more North Sea oil & gas!
www.theguardian.com/environment/...
I disagree! LNG is a small percentage of our overall gas imports. Far better to reduce gas demand faster than to open new sources that will keep us locked into gas use for decades. It's hard – politically and legally – to close down infrastructure once it's operating. No to new North Sea oil & gas!
I think it is a great idea. I do wonder how easy it would be to implement. A big job for HMRC to establish the net worth and tax liability of people good at concealing and offshoring their wealth.

Can you help us put on Salmon Run 2026?
Making Salmon Run happen costs money: medics, run director, performers, school visits, publicity, printing...
Please give if you can! All donations before April 26 will be doubled by Aviva.

Jonathon Porritt, Sarah Finch and edie editor Matt Mace on stage at edie 26.
Thought-provoking to hear Jonathon Porritt and @sarahfinch.bsky.social talking about their hard-won experience advocating for nature and how business can do this - not for the payback of ecosystem services, but for the value of nature as the foundation of all life and society.
Methane is fuelling the climate crisis. Cutting it is one of the fastest ways to slow it down.
So why is UK onshore oil & gas still being ignored?
⚠️Weak monitoring
⚠️Limited oversight
⚠️No real accountability
So we’re taking action - Clean Air, Clear Future
We need to cut methane pollution NOW!
Jonathan Porrit, Sarah Finch and the editor of edie sat on a panel stage.

Let me tell you a story about connection. Stories. Passion. And a banana.
I’m sitting at our stand with a few bunches of bananas on the table. They make perfect sustainable give aways, link to Mike’s book, and start chats…
Thank you for the banana! a much needed energy boost before the panel. It was great to meet you Charlie and to talk with Jonathan Porritt, who has inspired many of us for decades.

Which farm is this?
Near Lympstone? Come down to the beach tomorrow to learn about shellfish, shellfishing, shellfish farming and their relationship to the communities of the Exe.

Gatwick Airport's t profits and passenger numbers are down from 2024, due to a drop in short-haul passengers. The conflict in the Middle East will likely make that fall further.
This proves what we’ve said all along: Gatwick's Big Enough.

I'd much rather a squirrel than Winston Churchill!
Thanks to our Supreme Court win, oil & gas companies have to come clean about the full climate impact of their projects, including downstream emissions. This report will be helpful for anyone responding to consultations on new developments.

I agree – an in-nature shot is nicer than a studio portrait.
I'd delete the 'This website is free' bit – people will assume it's free and it slows down readers before they get to the more interesting bit.
Embed the latest two or three blog posts on the homepage too.
🚨 URGENT: The NPPF consultation is critical chance to lock in stronger climate-friendly planning restrictions for onshore oil, gas and coal
⏳ Deadline to submit: 10 March 2026
We’ve produced a short briefing on the key fossil fuel questions.

I just signed a @theactionnetwork.bsky.social petition: Help Stop the Criminal Killing of Birds of Prey. Sign here: actionnetwork.org/petitions/he...
Congratulations Ruth! That is very well deserved.
I heard one yesterday in Somerset
Please sign this petition asking the Government to pause all offshore CO₂ storage projects until a full independent safety, environmental and legal assessment is completed.

For more discussion of how to use the law in campaigning, join the Public Law and the Planet conference next week. In-person tickets are sold out but you can join online.
I’m speaking and so are some star activists, lawyers, NGOs, and policy-makers.

Thanks Steve for inviting me onto the podcast. It was interesting to chat about the up- and down-sides of using the law in campaigns.
The law is a powerful tool for climate campaigners – but it's also expensive and there are no guarantees of success.
Sarah Finch, the campaigner who won a landmark Supreme Court ruling on onshore oil and gas emissions, is urging the prime minister to resist calls to overturn the judgement.

“Truly Finch is the gift that keeps on giving!”
This article looks at the impacts of my Supreme Court win – including stopping fossil fuel projects and industrial pig and poultry farms.
And also at its next big test: will the government re-approve Rosebank?
