I taught American Government this morning. Last night I watched a 30 Rock episode. Jack was getting a haircut before attending a gathering of Republican men. He explained they could be brutal with their comments about bad haircuts. Then Liz said:

Yes, please come help shape the future of biking and walking in a location that is difficult/dangerous to reach if you try to bike or walk there.

Where is the open house being held? At a library branch situated next to a dying mall and mainly accessible via a six-lane stroad, which is among the deadliest thoroughfares in the city for people who walk and ride bikes.
I have been complaining about this for years. The metropolitan planning organization is inviting the public to “learn about its bicycle and pedestrian facility study, share ideas for your local community, and help shape the future of biking and walking in the region” at an open house.
They started accepting cards during the pandemic. That’s how I knew things were getting serious.
There's a similar program here in Savannah, through which businesses and other institutions can request free bike racks for their locations. I've made many local businesses aware of it. The City is usually quick to install racks once requests are received.
I am so sick of the word "deal." 🤮
Update. The Smoldering Mulch Mountain of Lanier County, Georgia, is still smoldering as of 12:15 p.m. today.

I invited a guest speaker to a class last year in the final weeks of the term and about halfway through her presentation, a student turned to me and said, "This is the best thing that's happened in the class all semester."
I really started noticing them when I was working from home and going out for socially distanced walks to get out of the house, which a lot of people were doing in 2020. I wrote about that here:

The HVAC system at our downtown classroom building is not working. I remember during the pandemic, there was a lot of talk from architects and public health officials about the importance of ventilation. I certainly could go for windows that actually open right about now I tell you what. 🥵
This is a good reminder that, as I divest from streaming services, I need to buy physical copies of things like this.
I guess I'm one of them.
It arrived today! Thinking about putting it aside until May as a reward for surviving the semester.
