🤣 I don't know if I have the same interpretation of "dad game" as you but... That certainly made me laugh regardless 😂

I find myself teetering somewhere between my usual desperate hope that everything's not lost and unbounded rage. It is going to be a very long night.

*Musical mood board, is what I meant to write. I spend quite a lot of time listening to music that I can somehow link to stories I'm writing. They've been a source of inspiration for me for about a decade now (though this one is only a year old)

Was sad that apparently one of my music board tracks got removed from Qobuz, but it's Schrödinger's music track apparently...

Double Olympic champion Caster Semenya shapes up for new battle with the IOC The South African is encouraging a challenge against the landmark decision and calling on other athletes to join her in a class action.

Genuinely all the best with this. It can't and shouldn't stand.

I'm not just proud, I'm genuinely excited now that I've put it all together as one document (and one unfinished document at that), And I'm excited to share more going forward.

I dunno. Watch this space I guess 🤣

I love writing. It's so much fun.

8 chapters, 151 pages (kind of, the formatting on them is atrocious), 43,952 words and a new group of characters that I can feel myself falling in love with despite (or because of) all their flaws. The messiest main character I think I've ever created.

It's also the first time since I was a teenager that I've felt completely comfortable writing a story with absolutely no idea where the story is going or how it's going to end, I am truly writing to find out what happens as I go, which makes it even more thrilling.

It's the first time I've had this feeling with a project that isn't CoN-related or work-related for quite a number of years, AND it's the first project I've felt quite so tied to that is in my own completely original world (that's a product of what my work has been for my entire career.)

But, in the meantime, one of my other projects has completely distracted me over the last couple of weeks or so :D

But this is a big deal, it turns out, because I realised tonight that I possibly have something quite special on my hands.

That's fine. That's how the writing process goes sometimes. The main thing is that I identified the problem, came up with a solution and started working towards it. Now the effort has been on trying to put the pieces back together slightly differently.

Three or four weekends ago, I think, I was a weekend away from confidently proclaiming I had a prototype I could use to get the rest of the project started.

Then I lay in bed thinking about it for too long one morning until I found myself unpicking it all to figure out why I still wasn't happy.

I've also had some great bursts of inspiration for four - four - separate projects, including my third VtM story that should really be my focus. Until recently, I had been on a tear to a point where I almost, almost, managed to feel pretty comfortable with where CoN book 3 was going.

So, as some of you know, the last year or so of my life has been a bit of a whirlwind with work and all, which has made it quite tricky to sit down and write consistently. I've gone through patches where I barely get 100 words out at a time, jumping from project to project, being utterly unfocused.

At this point I think I kind of have to - but really don't want to - accept that I'm just going to be misgendered for the rest of my life. I really don't know what else to do to fix it.

Despite being less competitive than Melbourne, I think, that was still a really fun F1 race in Shanghai. The battle between the Ferraris was excellent, Antonelli drove fantastically. If Ferrari can close the gap to Mercedes in April, we're going to have one hell of a Championship fight.

*Really* refreshing to see overtaking for the lead before the VSC though, and nice to see Hamilton seeming to enjoy the car a little more. So long, ground effect era, and good riddance.

Hmm. Australian GP got off to a good start but was kind of killed by the VSC and Ferrari's strategy calls. Encouraging that the pace between Mercedes and Ferrari seems pretty consistently matched though? Might make for some good fights later in the season.

I mean, everything about Sunfall Cycle was excellent, but I particularly liked the encounter to save the blacksmith. It really drew me in and had me hoping they'd pull it off and it never felt like a certainty. Plus the reward they got for it really felt meaningful.

Trying to plan a holiday, breaking my brain trying to find a way to make hotels cheaper than flights (even AirBnBs are so expensive!), only to realise I have no holiday days left until the end of the month anyway...

Actually had a fully formed idea for a story come to me in a dream 👀 always thought that was only a turn of phrase, as it's never actually happened to me before.

Bad news for my other current writing projects, but a good start to the day!
