The current system sucks for sure, but at least with the 2 items limit I managed to get a Sonic drop. Definitely not in a normal, reasonable way, but this went a lot smoother than FF or Marvel

I love the set, and had an amazing time at the prerelease yesterday. Even opened a special art Bahamut out of my prize packs! However, I'm feeling deeply hurt atm because I couldn't get the FF weapons Secret Lair despite entering queue at 18:00 on the dot. Please change this broken system, Gavin :(

It's an insane April Fool's prank to print high-demand cards with a Marvel theme and actually have more than enough for everyone though. Hopefully this isn't limited to April Fool's

I'm not complaining however! Finally have a lovely, lovely Deadly Rollick & some great arts to boot.

Finally got around to drawing a real logo for Cityfall, the bird-themed RPG I'm working on. What do y'all think?

The weather has been getting nicer and nicer... Looking forward to going outside without a coat soon, and doze off in a park like these birbs...

Not a lot to show today as I'm just back from vacation, but enjoy these facial expression sketches of various birds!

1. Pluto, a rogue Jackdaw
2. Automaton, a robot birb!
3. Rhea, a druidic Uhu

I hope you all like them :)

How was it, in comparison to playing only individual parts? Both as a developer and as a gamer

Today I worked on color keys for the new level, ~15 mins each. It's a flooded forest with mist, spirits & fish moving about.

Color definitely isn't my strong point, so I'm still learning a lot! Below are four color keys based on line art, from latest - oldest

(2/2) At the moment you click on an element to see what the status effect does. If you select two different elements, you see the resulting combo. Combos are only shown once you have seen them in battle, used either by you or by enemies.

A bit late, but this #screenshotsaturday I worked on a revamped status info panel. Players can view status effects & -combos here
Still WIP, I'll look into fixing the video player resolution and a more intuitive selection UI. I'll take a look at how #genshinimpact does it too. (1/2)

Added a new party member! Meet Leonidas, the Flamboyant Fencer. He's fast and can be built as magical attacker, physical attacker, or a combination of both.

I'm very happy with my improvement in animation & bird design as well!

Finished up the Steal skill today! You can get equipment both by defeating enemies and by stealing. The chances of getting something from an enemy decrease every time you Steal, however, so no farming an enemy infinitely :p

Beautiful photos! Does the snowy weather make travel difficult?

This morning had a conversation with my partner about how nowadays 90% of the webshops seem to be like this. I've started only buying from well-known (preferably physical) shops again so I don't have to research their real location & policies first...

Good luck, I hope you'll get your money back!

It's a great feeling to type out a question on a forum or Discord and to realize the answer while typing. Really goes to show that #rubberduckdebugging is the way to go!

Was thinking about this one as well, with Gwent, FFVII Rebirth, Sea of Stars kinda. They even made a TCG based on the Yu-Gi-Oh games I heard

I love your art style! The colors work really well together, and the gold veins in the grey rock really pop

(not me writing an equipment/ loot system after implementing a Steal skill without anything available to steal yet)

It's not real scope creep of course since the system would always be implemented eventually, but I feel like it fits the vibe

As part of writing the Equipment system, I added tests along the way. They make sure boosts are calculated properly and equipping triggers expected behaviour.
Not very splashy to look at, but important nonetheless! Test your code, devs!!!

Wow, your artstyle has really grown a lot! The left looks a lot more polished already. I do think the old version's bookcase has a lot of charm, would be nice to see it in the new version as well I think

Added more Equipment icons & effects. The game now has Elemental Equipment, which increase your damage with or resistance to an element, depending on whether they're equipped to your Weapon or Armor.
Leftmost are the default Elemental icons, with examples

Finished the code + demo UI for equipment! Still got some beautifying to do, but very happy that it's working :)
(don't mind the placeholder icons lmao)

1 & 2: before equipping
3: Equipping
4: Result

(see my earlier post for how it works)

public void Unequip()
{
    equipped.SetAvailable(equipped.available + 1);
    equipped = null;
}

public void Unequip() { equipped.SetAvailable(equipped.available + 1); equipped = null; }

This week I implemented more of the Equipment system. Highlight was this function I wrote this morning just after having my coffee (so no "I haven't had my coffee yet" excuses...)

Upon defeating an enemy you get Marbles, which increase your stats. By fusing weak Marbles or defeating more powerful foes, you get increasingly better Marbles + stat boosts! There is no other currency in Cityfall, as there aren't a lot of towns.
What do you think?

Due to the holidays a bit late for #screenshotsaturday, but this week I worked on the equipment system in Cityfall. It's basically a combination of FFVII's Materia and The Witcher 3's Mutagens. (1/2)
