On April 12, Peruvians head to the polls. But recent years were marked by political instability and steady democratic backsliding.

Sustained international scrutiny, incl. by the #EU, through the electoral process is key to ensure Peruvian voters can make their choice.

One would expect strong words for civilians & consistency that threats by US President to commit int'l crimes are illegal & unacceptable

@eudiplomacy.bsky.social should spare no effort to:

📢 Denounce war-crime rhetoric
⛑️ Urge for protection of civilians
⚖️ Put rights of Iranians & Lebanese first

Landmark UN Resolution on the Slave Trade Commemorating the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the United Nations General Assembly passed a landmark resolution on March 25.

A global majority adopted a landmark UN resolution to advance reparations for injustices linked to enslavement legacies.

Who didn't vote in favor of the resolution? Many Global North countries facing calls for reparatory justice.

The time for action is now.

Israel’s displacement of civilians in Lebanon is a possible war crime The Israeli tactics of mass expulsion of Lebanese civilians risk directly violating international law.

#Israel's mass displacement in #Lebanon follows the same strategy used in Gaza, the West Bank and Syria. Forced displacement of civilians, widespread destruction and prevention of return.

In short, potential war crimes.

UN: Global Tax System Undermines Rights, Development UN member countries should work to align the emerging United Nations tax convention with international human rights law to achieve its objective of advancing sustainable development.

The current global tax system is driving an extreme concentration of wealth that is depriving most govts of money that could fund health, education, and social security.

Rights groups call for #UNTaxConvention to be guided by human rights. Our take 👇
