Would love to see the data on this.
By “take road trips” do they just mean ‘drive somewhere’?

Jack White in Paris and Newcastle it is then.
Not sure if this link will work but I find this inordinately moving. Imagine going to a gig there, being up on Level 2, thinking you were in for a night of distance viewing and this happening.

Honestly can’t stop thinking about this gig. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a band make such a virtue of the Hydro before, or ever seen a moment quite as special as this there.

I’m a late convert but I’ve really come to appreciate James more since seeing them for the first time last year. So seemed only right to see them again in Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™. Tunes that can adequately fill the Hydro. Just a stratospherically good live band.
Angine de Poitrine Autumn for me!

Only three months into Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™ and already a second Gruff Rhys show with the last date on the Dim Probs tour (and a month or so shy of the upcoming SFA shows). In Amsterdam for a Welsh-forward set with Dutch thank yous and an Argentinian on French horn.
Stewart Lee and Richard Herring had some great gear about this in the 90s.
I’m enjoying this glorious return to sitcom situations retrofitted around a well known phrase. ‘Bills included’ is a phrase often seen in tenancy ads. His name is Bill. He stays with his tenants so he’s included. Lovely stuff.
The hottest, most hyped ticket of Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™ so far with Geese at the Barrowlands. Absolutely worth that hype. Blistering set.
Pick a side. It’s either going to be great, or might start slowly and pick up if given a chance, or it might be terrible, and if you think it is or might be terrible you’re killing comedy.
I see whether or not you are looking forward to SNL UK is the new culture war.
The heat is rising!
My hot take is that I’m happy with every single award at last night’s #Oscars. Nothing I can get mad about. Sure, there are a couple I’d *like* to have seen but, yeah, they were all good.
5 minutes in and we’ve already had the anti-this. #oscars
And 19 years and 1 month after having this signed by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (before Hot Fuzz was even released) and it living in a frame since then, @edgarwright.bsky.social graciously completed the trifecta this evening.
He may not have delivered on his long-awaited MySpace pledge of some Jaffa Cakes but it was a pleasure to finally see one of my longterm favourites @edgarwright.bsky.social giving great Glasgow Q&A tonight at @glasgowfilmtheatre.bsky.social
It was Byrne’s Night and as close to a homecoming gig as you’re going to get. David Byrne is an artist I’ve been longing to see for years and I’m glad I got a chance in Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™ with a show that was absolutely extraordinary, life affirming stuff.
When the actual number is a nice round 25, why would you write it up as “nearly 30”?
Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™ and a first time seeing Lily Allen at her first ever public performance of West End Girl in its entirety, staged like a retro 60s one-woman play.
Incidentally, One Day: The Musical was really wonderful. Brilliantly captured a 90s Brit romcom vibe (right down to a performance channeling Hugh Grant) and powerfully staged in the round. Run, don’t walk (and definitely don’t cycle) to get a ticket.
Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™ marches on and somehow, inexplicably this was my first gig at the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. Die Spitz were a helluva band to christen my raucous first visit with.
Yes, very impressive!
No worries! It threw me for a loop when I booked too. Basically, none of the usual stalls seating is used and they’ve built a raised central stage over what would be the front of the stage and front of the stalls, then added new seating to both sides.
