No matter what distro I try out. I eventually come back to Debian again. Seems like the saying “Debian is the end of distrohoppers” is indeed true

I thought my SSD died shortly after using that hotel lobby pc to make a bootable usb. My bag which had my thinkpad in it, fell from a 4 ft height inside the train. I booted the thinkpad today only to realise that the "dead" SSD somehow got resurrected.....

Long story short, had no bootable usb with me and my laptop's second SSD suddenly died while I was on vacation. Had no option but to use hotel lobby pc, which had only 2 IO ports and would fail to boot if you disconnect keyboard. Had to disconnect my mouse and make bootable usb to reinstall linux

I had to wait for 2 hours to board my train so I pulled up KOTOR1, a game that I had to abandon 3 years ago due to corrupted save files.

This day only keeps getting more weird as I progress. It’s almost as if it wants me to put through trouble just to teach me what I can do on my own.

Installed FreeBSD on my laptop but at what cost? I can't use wifi because my pc crashes the moment i try to enable wifi. My wifi card is supported though. Atleast I got to learn some new stuff yesterday.

Gearing up for a baremetal FreeBSD install soon. Turns out that my ThinkPad's realtek network card is now supported by freebsd which is good news because if something like a network card is supported then it's very likely that the other drivers are too!

Back in the late 2000s, it was incredibly hard to find someone with a PSP in India. Only the rich kids used to have it.

Here I am almost 17 years later, finally having a handheld console. I never got the PSP but at least I have a switch which is the modern equivalent of it.

I think I should be spending more time with engines rather than computers. A random shower thought.

Can’t believe I’m saying this being a console fan but I don’t think I’ll be able to get the PS6 like I originally planned to.

I’m thinking of moving to older classic games at this point

Finally bit the bullet and installed FreeBSD from scratch inside a VM. Baremetal install coming soon.....

raylib sounds interesting…

The easiest way to make a game w/o an engine is Lua’s Love2D framework but I like C because I don’t want to learn a whole new language for this hypothetical game of mine.

Let’s see if it’s doable in C…..

No this is not an april fools joke but I've been wanting to write an open source video game and license it under GPL. The biggest problem is however, finding enough free time to do this >_<

You should try LMDE

Same. I thought of saving up for a PS5/6 and have a nice time with my Mac but looks like the world has a different plan. PS6 might cost $1000, Windows is crap. That leaves me with Mac and a Linux Gaming Desktop.

Sony Announces Price Rises for PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal, Blames 'Continued Pressures in the Global Economic Landscape' Sony has announced price rises for PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal, blaming “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.”

Thank you OpenAI and every AI techbro scoundrel for ruining my favourite hobby. You ruined one of my dream purchases. I was saving up money to buy a PS5 and I can't get one anymore to justify the price. Fuck you and your AI.

Today I fixed all issues with python-markdownify for debian packaging. I learnt how to use help2man to create manpages and that's for sure gonna help me down the line for future packages.

Sounds like you’re picking the wrong distros like many beginners do. Just use Ubuntu or mint. Mint has a decent support channel if you need help.

Been there, done that. Debian broke that cycle for me.

I’m more excited about how things are gonna look on the MacOS side of things. Linux was blessed with proton but here on macOS we still use crossover where not many games especially old ones run properly. I hope WINE 11 makes crossover a lot better than it is right now.

Linux already performs way better than windows for me when it comes to gaming where I notice a spike in the FPS.

I also paid for Crossover Mac so I supported the development of WINE. I’m glad to see that my money’s being put to good use. Omw to get enough swags to buy a WINE T Shirt

When the senior students said college is gonna get incredibly hectic at the end, I didn't expect it'd be this bad.

I gotta deal with a research paper, thesis, presentation, projects, life chores, hobbies etc. all at once with almost no break.

I can only see it getting worse at this point.

The only user focused desktop distro of FreeBSD is GhostBSD. The problem with BSD is the licensing. Corpos steal the source code and don’t forward downstream work. Resultant is an OS that doesn’t have end user as a priority due to lack of forwarded patches. FreeBSD is kinda doomed from the start.

It’s already enshittified in a way if you count the fact that some part of the kernel code is written by LLMs. FreeBSD is still far away from ever becoming mainstream despite being a nice OS. It lacks proper driver support.

Just received a confirmation from a conference saying that my paper got accepted \o/. I just gotta wrap up a few things before paying for publication. This is gonna be a hell of a month with exams and this conference so close to each other.

Ubuntu or Linux Mint might suit you but you can’t get all Windows software running. A lot of stuff like Adobe suite or Microsoft stuff straight up won’t work.

Not sure if it’s faulty hardware or if windows bloat actually made my old Thinkpad unusable on windows. Everything feels laggy and takes a few seconds to open. A sharp contrast to Linux where everything opens blazing fast. I’m glad I moved to MacOS for my personal machine.
