To be fair - Trump first announced it as a total blockade. Seems someone then decided that was too insane even for the US bsky.app/profile/wart...
This is how Ukrainians celebrated Easter today 🐣
Don't show this to Anna Paulina Luna! she insists that we "banned Christianity," and its going to be awkward 😁
I understand the route through the tollbooth is shallower and more difficult to navigate - especially for laden tankers - so you will not be able to get back to 130+ transits per day without the main route being cleared. Insurance is probably also holding things up while things are unclear.
nothing says winning like an "indefinite" block on images
I wrote a Substack post about my experiences in Ukraine last week. open.substack.com/pub/maxboot/...
Trump is making it clear he won't be re-opening the Strait of Hormuz. It makes sense for countries to distance themselves from the US if they might have to negotiate with Iran for access soon. I wonder if China will be the one to re-open Hormuz - they're a big user of the oil and friendly to Iran...
Informative discussion - thanks! Seems to tie in well with this thread about when disruption is likely to hit. bsky.app/profile/chri...
Ed Straker from TV show UFO inside his car - featuring a steering wheel extending too far from the dashboard for comfort
Not to forget Ed Straker's car from 1980
Sounds like a job for the Board of Peace
Looking at the US CPI figures one of the few things was down was ... gas. Oh dear. www.cnbc.com/2026/02/13/h...
I am old enough to remember Farage conceding on Brexit night and having to switch tack when it turned out they actually won. They are not good at politics.
Terrific piece, very well done.
Video taken down? Will there be a new version?
This exactly by Elsa Court: "Praising [Ukrainians'] resilience is like standing on the shore, watching a person struggle not to drown in a riptide. Instead of sending a lifeboat to save them, you praise them for being such a strong swimmer."

Interesting that this wasn't reported to a US press organisation. Real news is hanging by a thread.
This is getting as bad as waiting for the US to sanction Russia. Fewer words, more action!
Every European country with a sea coast should at least be pulling over every tanker RU for 'inspection' - make all their shipments take extra months & costs.
Is there much that any leader can do? With Trump / Ukraine / Brexit situations pushing down on the economy there's not incredible scope for growth so they end up shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic. Avoiding shooting themselves repeatedly in the foot would be a good start I guess.
This is how much Russia tried to destroy Ukraine and its people in the early hours of this morning.
The radar map of approximate missile and drone paths Yellow is drones, pink=jet drones, the rest are missiles.
Rather than saying Zelensky is 'incorrect' they should be saying that this will never happen again - for whatever reason.
Europe is keen to point out that UKR is defending them, but not so much to get on with helping the defence - we need to do better.
Also - Trump wasn't bothered about the Canada deal 9 days ago: 'Speaking to reporters as he departed the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump said Carney's deal with China was "a good thing."' - his policy is just "who has upset me today" www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
Sad that the UK's reason for not signing up is 'Putin might join" rather than "this is a scam organisation" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Like the OSA it will be implemented as adults having to hand over their IDs to third parties. Privacy nightmare - and it will take kids 30 minutes to bypass. Great news for VPN vendors I guess.
Maybe Greenland should lean into this: "So, we'll need to be a full State - obviously - like Alaska - when should we elect our 2 senators? And we'll need a sovereign wealth fund to replace Denmark's subsidies - say $10B up front. Let us know when you've got that all passed in Congress - kthxbai"
Ideally more countries will now send troops to Greenland - leave Trump announcing new tariffs (mainly landing on US consumers) in between rounds of golf this weekend.
Expedition 33? Hmm, too obvious, so probably Donkey Kong Bananza.
Another beautiful Shchedryk performance amidst ruins.
It was set in what used to be a DTEK thermal power plant — now destroyed by russia.
The contrast between russia’s destructive nature and the Ukrainian will to create beauty even in the darkest times is palpable.
The wall near St. Michael’s Monastery in #Kyiv
Here are the faces of the Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine
Here are ordinary people who did not want war -they wanted to live. But when Russians came to kill us,they stood up to defend their country
This is the price Ukraine is paying
