Something else I’m working on. Thursday lunchtime at the Yoga Darśana Yoga Sādhana conference, 27-29 May, Campus Condorcet, 8 cours des Humanités, Paris.
OṀnibus 🙄
And for those everywhere, this will also be available online on our MANTRAMS Project Oṁnibus. More to follow!
For those in Vienna, you can also listen (and come and talk to me) at the opening of our MANTRAMS Project Visual Mantras workshop on 20 May from 19:15, Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies, Spitalgasse 2, Courtyard 2, Entrance 2.7, 1090 Vienna.

I used to have to paint that in school to wave when President Bongo came to town. Yours is much better.
Looking forward to contributing to the EurAsia Summer Academy: Vienna Summer School on the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia: Mantras between Language, Ritual, and Materiality. @istb-univienna.bsky.social @mantrams.bsky.social

I’m very honoured to give this lecture as part of the DiPIKA (Digital Preservation of Kerala Archives) Project new series. All welcome. In person if you’re around Thrissur on December 10th, or else online (QR code to join in the poster).
Phew!
Also I will never be able to un-love Asterix. They’ve been making me laugh out loud since I was 8 years old. In ex-colonial equatorial Africa, ironically. Also the jokes are really not the same in translation. I really hope I’m still allowed 😭
I’ve deliberately not listened yet. Also I just sent my niece ‘Le Yoga de Babar’ for her 3rd birthday, hoping it was a new-age unproblematic updated version 🙄
When I set out to turn my research into a PhD, my hope was that the thesis would be useful to people invested or interested in kaḷarippayaṟṟ˘. So I was touched and thrilled today to find that someone had found it interesting enough to take the trouble to print it out for easier reading.
In fairness, Vienna is getting less affordable. But even with some things now more expensive than what I found in the UK (groceries namely), quality of life is still hugely better because of access to good housing and amazing public transport. And just general attention to community facilities.
This is bonkers. I moved to Vienna from the UK in January to a district that is entirely new-build. Within a 5 minute walk of my front door there are 4 supermarkets, a chemist, a doctor, 6 playgrounds, a park, a tram stop and at least 3 schools. Why is it so outlandish to expect the same in Britain?
A bit about my work on @mantrams.bsky.social
The talk I gave for the SOAS Centre of Yoga Studies a couple of weeks ago is now on YouTube, for anyone who missed it and would like to catch up. youtu.be/xlqc74S5lC4?...
The tag on the link seems wrong. It’s online, and in person, and just me.
I’m giving a talk online for the SOAS Centre of Yoga Studies on May 19th. It’s free to register and attend, and will be available later on YouTube if the live time doesn’t work for you. @mantrams.bsky.social @istb-univienna.bsky.social

Well that was pretty extraordinary. Teyyam in Kannur.
Hello Kasaragod, aren’t you beautiful? A little awkward, but very beautiful.
I was just about to ask this. Objections to Gross Domestic Happiness measurements??
I heard his keynote at the Spalding Symposium there last year, but I’ve not met him personally.
In Cardiff as well. The shame 🤦🏽♀️
The MANTRAMS Project is on Bluesky 🦋 And there’s a free event coming up. Do join.
