Bring it, turd bucket.
It sure is.

Rendering of a green ALTO electrified high speed train traveling through a snowy Canadian landscape.
I guess it was inevitable that Canada’s conservative leader would set his sights on high-speed rail - the most exciting 🇨🇦 zero-carbon nation-building project since I dunno - and start throwing around lingo like “boondoggle.” 🙄
Summoned to Ottawa, then a week or so later “retiring,”
presumably “to spend more time with family.”
From cycling under the light of moon on a beautiful night, to looking around and adding up the obscene amount of money we spend on cars, this article echoes so much of my thoughts about riding a bike and how CONNECTING it is- to people, to nature, to life- and how cars sever that connection.
BC has explicitly prohibited Level 3-5 autonomous vehicles, but Waymo is of course working on that. With deep respect, Dennis @movementyvr.bsky.social the future has not been written; there is no fate but what we make for ourselves.

A Telegraph headline that reads "There's a reason young people like me hate the NHS", by Joanna Marchong
The reason Joanna Marchong hates the NHS is that she's paid to do so by the right-wing Adam Smith Institute, which lobbies on behalf of the private healthcare industry.
The heat dome’s death toll was confirmed as 619, “equivalent to a Boeing 747 crash killing all aboard.”
Five years later, these fatalities are treated as a part of life, Geoff Meggs writes for @thetyee.ca.

This was the bigger deal
in the MOU than that other thing in there that everyone got mad about.
Thank you @michellemorton.bsky.social for sharing the story of Gob the Very Social Marmot who is evidently “all about the peanut butter.” Much needed timeline cleanse.
“Give your head a shake,”
common sense conservatives urge downtown residents seeking car-free infrastructure.
Au contraire, “Killed by a Traffic Engineer” is hilarious. The footnotes alone are 🤣
Oh Damn; that madness has infected Montreal too?

The Iran war effect. About 2x the drop from the carbon tax removal in April.
It’s just too dangerous to move antimatter by truck or train. Canada needs a new antimatter pipeline to tidewater, ensuring secure access to overseas antimatter markets.
Project Hail Mary is wonderful fun, a film about finding courage, friendship, and confidence. Funny, too. See in IMAX if you can.

A battleship grey LAARS MightyTherm domestic hot water boiler, a stout steel box surrounded by piping and pumps.
This natural gas boiler has been producing hot water for my small midcentury apartment building since 1975. We will finally retire it next month and replace it with a pair of electric heat pumps. Stay tuned.
