Not a surprise but this is horrifying and has real implications for what will be covered by insurance.

In what is clearly an attempt to sow doubt in vaccines, RFK removes all representatives from ACIP. To be clear, these are not political appointees. They are pediatricians and scientists.

For anyone trying to understand the true impact and magnitude of the cuts to scientific research, this is a fantastic summary. unbreaking.org/issues/medic...
Here's the NIH's proposed budget - from $48 billion to $27 billion. NIAID, current ~$7 billion cut to ~$4.2 billion.
The proposed 15% cap on indirect costs remains.
Again, these budgets are passed, and our leadership in science, technology, and innovation is gone.

Gender affirming care is life saving. This move now takes it away from adults on Medicaid. It’s shameful and many Americans will suffer.
Changes to #Medicaid continue to be proposed. What is Medicaid? What might these changes mean?
Check out this conversation with Health Policy and Management @emoryrollins.bsky.social faculty member Dr. Kathleen Adams.

Last week the Department of Health Policy & Management at Emory University was ranked 8th in the nation. Proud to be a part of it!
Go Sara! Very well written.
Thank you RFK jr. Ridiculous!
CDC denies help to schools in Milwaukee dealing w/ lead poisoning bc the gov cuts eliminated the CDC lead poisoning team!
How many more ridiculous things like this are going to pop up in the coming year?
The benefits of public health are invisible until they’re gone!
In a time where public health and higher education are under attack, I am still very proud to work at the now #2 school of public health!

I wish this was shocking but it’s exactly what you expect when you decimate public health and science.

🚨🚨🚨 Four NIH institute directors have been removed from their posts and some offered reassignments to the Indian Health Service, effective today.
These institutes include NIAID (Jeanne Marrazzo), NIMHD (Eliseo Pérez-Stable), NICHD (Diana Bianchi), and NINR (Shannon Zenk).
Don’t think NIH research funding matters to you. See below. What medication have you or your family taken in the past 15 years? I bet it was discovered with NIH funding.
Misinformation is a very powerful way of shifting narratives away from what is proven scientifically. The science is clear the vaccines are safe and do not cause autism. As scientists and public health professionals, we all need to help shine a light on nefarious attempts like this.
BREAKING: Weldon's nomination for CDC director has been withdrawn! Per AP he didn't have the votes. Excellent! In the mean time, this gives CDC the opportunity to continue to helplessly "misunderstand" orders, re-request written clarifications, etc. Ahem leadership. 👀

Dave Weldon as nominee to lead CDC is incredibly dangerous for women’s and reproductive health.

This is just one example of the critical importance of vaccine studies- all of which are at risk.
As a scientist and the parent of a teenager who wants to be a future scientist (not to mention a world citizen who knows the value of science), this is heartbreaking and shows how long term the damage to US scientific innovation is going to be.
Flu is dangerous- especially for the very young, older adults, and those who are immune suppressed or compromised. This does not bode well.

For many years, PRAMS has been used by women’s health researchers to understand and help address issues related to pregnancy outcomes. While there no public announcement about shuttering PRAMS, those who work must closely with it report this has happened and access to existing data is blocked.
The AMA now providing public health updates since we can’t rely on CDC. Consider following them.
@jamiedaw.bsky.social this is so upsetting. Your posts are the only documentation I can find of this. Is it announced somewhere you can point to?
EIS is critical to public health infrastructure. All Americans will suffer from this.
For all of us who care about women’s health, a new non-federal funding source.
We won’t ignore this critical history.
