NEW: On the first day of the war with Iran, the United States used a new ballistic missile. It was untested in combat. Our analysis shows it struck a sports hall, an elementary school, and residential areas — killing at least 21 people, including children. w/ @johnismay.bsky.social
What can journalism do in a world where news is free, people don't trust us, and AI bots answer any question?
I guess, maybe, not use AI to write articles?

War disrupts fertiliser supplies, puts food security at risk.
A third of fertiliser shipped by sea comes from the Gulf countries and cannot make it to the global market as Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz

Official statements placing U.S. forces in the area – along w/ analysis of social posts, videos, sat. images – suggest U.S. forces bombed a school in Minab, Iran during strikes targeting an IRGC base. Over 150 were killed, Iranian officials say. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/05/w...

always worth remembering that "the cloud" is actually just someone else's computer (or their many, many computers)
AWS servers in Bahrain and UAE are down - this physicality of the "cloud" is rarely visible to users.
... unless one needs a cloud GPU in Kenya, then one learns that Google, Amazon etc. barely have any GPU on the continent (just a few in SA, and very $$).

Cameroonian authorities are arbitrarily detaining non-Cameroonian nationals deported from the US+detaining +abusing journalists who tried to interview them. But Trump’s administration doesn’t seem to care, @hrw.org

Looks like a phishing attempt. Anyone else got something like this? @signal.org guessing you don't sent those?
Are you an early-career professional who is passionate about investigative journalism? Are you constantly curious about new ways of doing journalism and making it reach critical audiences?
You might just be the fellow we are looking for.

One of the biggest, most luxurious private planes in the world (#2DEER) is flying to the US, with the #ANGOLA1 call sign.
Calls signs like these are usually for heads of state, and indeed there's reports that President João Lourenço is going to the US.
Trump is allied with the Angolan president.
