Watching Sky News and the hate being dumped on the NDIS by Laura Jayes and Jane Hume is gross AF.

They only want "profoundly disabled" on the NDIS. And they really want to be the ones who decide who that is.

No one left behind @australianlabor.bsky.social gives

$12b to private schools
$30,000 a minute for planet killing #FossilFuels
$205b to wealthy property owners
$55.7b on weapons

But cannot afford to safely fund people with a disability on the #NDIS
And won’t raise people out of poverty

Taking from disabled people to give to people in aged care is a cynical political exercise from Labor.

Pitting people who genuinely need care against each other while leaving $17 billion in the pockets of gas corporations they’re too cowardly to tax is shameful.

So a cut to a quarter of social and community participation payments. On one hand, this is terrible for all the participants who are going to lose support to go anywhere outside homes. It’s also terrible for workers who only do social and community participation shifts

The NDIS set a new standard for welfare policy in 21st century Australia for a lot of reasons, including because it is a universal program that supports disabled people regardless of income so that we are on a more equal footing with others in the community.

Targeting is toxic and must be rejected.

The Australian Art Song Resource

For something totally different, this resource I built the website for has just been published! It's all based on a database of songs, and has been a lovely chance to properly get my head around Jekyll and DataTables so the whole site builds itself from a few csv files.

Ben Roberts-Smith granted bail after being charged with five counts of war crime murder Former SAS soldier to be released from Silverwater prison ahead of possible trial on charges relating to alleged killing of civilians in Afghanistan

more than 70% of incarcerated children and young people in NSW are presumptively innocent (locked up “on remand”). More than half of all incarcerated children, on any given night, in every jurisdiction, are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

The entire issue with the NDIS is that a generation of Australians (including almost everyone working in the political media) have become indoctrinated to believe the private sector is more efficient than the private sector.

Privatize disability care? What *could* go wrong???

Brief: climate scandal in the Northern Territory Thanks to a tiny number of journalists for drawing attention to this crisis.

I’d missed this so thanks again to @janfran.bsky.social & @antoinettelattouf.bsky.social of @ettemedia.bsky.social for flagging this.
NT compounding decades of traumatising First Peoples with an abusive response to climate collapse displacement.

Trialing new meds for chronic conditions is such a roller coaster. Even when there's evident benefits, the adjustments to a better quality of life come with unexpected twists like having more energy than before, but then doing too much & wiping yourself out for days at a time unintentionally. 🫠

Today marks 35 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody made 339 recommendations to address systemic racism and over-incarceration of First Nations people.

Since then, more than 630 First Nations people have died in custody, including 12 so far in 2026.

Do better for children - Raise the Age NSW Community leaders are calling on the NSW Government to raise the age and do better for children, community safety and the budget bottom line.

It’s my pleasure to work with leaders, like these. Leaders who want better for children and communities, not worse. Take a few minutes to watch this powerful collective message of hope. Now for leadership from our NSW Premier, Government and Parliament. share.raisetheagensw.org.au/public-share...

Oh shit... I'm so sorry! That's what he meant by 'postmodernism in the military'!: I missed the last white paper where the DoD denounced the litirgical epsitemology of Structural Realism & re-evaluated the necessity of the State as a processual apparatus of control & class based wealth extraction! 🤯

1 week ago 0 0 0 0

Like, where? How is this postmodernism entering into the frameworks & approaches of the military establishment? It's not in the body politic or the political class, & academia isn't the font either. So.... where?

Still no official PC port or remake 😭

To speak of 'postmodernism' in the military is a very silly notion. Rapid development in the techbological & threat ecology is forcing a proliferation of language & frameworks that are ill fitting & confusing. It's not postmodernism; it's conceptual uncertainty in an era of global strategic rupture.

Sing it with me now: "There is no postmodernism in the ADF."

I always enjoy it when someone demonstrates ignorance while decrying ignorance. Postmodernism is a loose post hoc designation that's ill fitting even in the narrow academic traditions where it *may* be relevant.

Lmao "postmodernism" in the ADF, give me a break. That statement alone betrays the ignorance he's decrying.

Sexual, domestic and family violence victim-survivors can't get the supoort they need because the government chooses not to fund services adequately while families go hungry because the government chooses not to increase income support but there's always more money for war toys. Always.
