Skeleton racer Heraskevych's father, Mykhailo, sitting near the start house, broke down in tears when the IOC disqualified his son from Olympics minutes before his first run. The decision was made as the athlete refused to remove a helmet bearing portraits of Ukrainian athletes killed in war.

It should also not be forgotten that Russia has used the Olympics as cover to launch several invasions, Ukraine after Sochi 2014 and in 2022 when China "asked Russia to hold off of the invasion until the Olympics were over", Georgia in 2008 during the Beijing Olympics

In my view these athletes all were careful to stick to justifiably neutral expressions that do not reference war. A helmet that said "be brave like Ukrainians", photos of killed athletes, and a quote from Lina Kostenko, "Where there is heroism, there is no final defeat", all banned

Without being able to explicitly state how these expressions differ from what is allowable in the Olympics, this policy seems essentially to be wielded discriminatorily against Ukrainians. Other athletes have memorials as part of their uniforms. Is Ukrainian death inherently political?

Before the IOC banned Ukrainian athlete and flag bearer Vladyslav Heraskevych from participating for wearing a helmet with a memorial for killed Ukrainian athletes, they gave a warning to 2 other Ukrainians for so-called political expressions, and a third for a statement supportive of Heraskevych

When Ru tried a similar campaign in 2022-23, journalists were calling me non-stop, essentially to ask when Ukrainians would crack and demand their govt surrender to Ru. By now, the West has realized Ukr won't surrender and now our media doesn't cover the story as much, maybe because...

Fellas, we need to step up. The guys in the Pokrovsk and Chasiv Yar directions, one of the hardest fronts, urgently need these drone detectors for survival and to protect logistics.

Baba Zhenya like so many others survived the Holocaust only for Russia to kill her. They parade themselves demanding they alone get to claim the legacy of liberating us from Nazism. With Putin daring to claim Russia is safer for Jews than the EU when Hannukah commemoration in Moscow was cancelled.

On January 13, the first frozen death case in Kyiv. 84-year-old Holocaust survivor Yevgenia Bezfamilna. Parents died in Babyn Yar. The child lived. The orphanage gave her a made-up family name – Bezfamilnaya or Bezfamilna in Ukrainian. Which means β€œNameless.”

Last night in Kyiv Oblast, a russian drone killed both parents of a four-year-old girl.

Russia kills civilians, injures them, destroys their homes, and leaves children orphaned.

This is not collateral damage β€” this is russia’s tactic.

Alexi Pretti was a loved and respected nurse helping critically ill veterans.
He was beaten and murdered on the streets of Minneapolis by paramilitaries in the employ of Donald Trump.
This is not a nation that can be trusted at any level.

Kyiv.
Afternoon after the attack.
The Dnipro River is still frozen.
No heat, water, or electricity in homes.

But hope lives.
We have much to fight for and to live for.

I had not heard the news yet. I'm very sorry about the situation in Minnesota.

again my heart just breaks for this person, beaten and executed on the street for trying to defend their community, and for the people of Minneapolis, who have just been targeted for this endless dehumanization and brutalization just because of who they are & the inclusivity the city represents

Ukraine destroyed over 9,000 Russian armored vehicles in three years. Russia replaced them all.

Here's the catch: they did it by draining Soviet-era storage from 10,400 vehicles down to 1,800, according to @Rebel44CZ.

Production adds just 900 vehicles a year. Russia loses 2,300+.

I would never in a million years try to whitewash the sins of this country, myself and other Canadians are just trying to get Americans to see how serious this is for us and it's not some thought experiment it's a real threat

2 months ago 54 6 1 0

Canada is in fact a deeply flawed country. But that's not what we are fucking talking about right now, we are talking about the US using its position as a global superpower to threaten us and hurt our economy and meddle in our politics

2 months ago 74 6 1 0

I don't want to hear from Americans that "oh Canada is fucked up too". The point of this whole conversation is America is currently threatening the sovereignty of my country and doing foreign interference with faux separatists. This is the context of this conversation.

The number of people injured in russia’s nighttime attack on Kharkiv has risen to 31, including two children.

The past 36 hours talking to these people on the bad site may have broken my brain permanently

2 months ago 31 0 2 0

There are a lot of you who seem to be overly concerned about people being rude to you when the people in question are a bit miffed that we're upending the global order and currently threatening to invade their country using a playbook from 12 years ago that is still currently ongoing

80% of Ukraine faces emergency power cuts following Russia's overnight aerial attack, focused on Kyiv One person was killed, and another four were reported injured in Kyiv as Russia launched a mass attack on the capital overnight on Jan. 24, officials reported.

As "peace talks" resume in Abu Dhabi, Kyiv is reeling from another massive Russian attack overnight that involved 396 drones and missiles.

One dead, several injured and 80 per cent of the country facing emergency power cuts. (Some of us are without water too.)

Russia continues to seek capitulation
